Installing New Steering Linkage

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I recently discovered my Center Link was bent so I figured while I replace it I might as well replace the Inner and Outer Tie Rods and the Adjustment Sleeves too.
Steering Linkage set = purchased form CJPony, part number 6566LKV8.
You can get a similar kit off Amazon:
Center Link - amzn.to/3vxE8Sa
Inner and Outer Tie Rods - amzn.to/3cSOKo9
Adjustable Tie Rod Sleeves - amzn.to/3oTkrAo
The car is a 1966 Mustang Fastback with a factory V8 and T5 transmission.
Shot with GoPro Hero 8 with the Media Mod, edited on Davinci Resolve 17.

    @@swooshdave I was thinking that too, but the bar bent towards the front of the car, not up towards the oil pan. It looks more like it got caught on something and a previous owner tried to back off of it and bent the bar.

    Very well done sir 👍🏻 recently did this on my 66 coupe except I had to do a little more modification because I’m using Granada outers. One thing I would HIGHLY recommend would be one of the roller bearing style idler arms from open tracker racing. It’s been a complete game changer on my car. Keep up the great content!

    When it came to the nuts for the tie rods where they came through the center link, were they bottoming out and leaving too much gap between the nut and the cotter pin, or was the stud coming to far through the link and the nut was bottom out on the stud? I've seen some issues about the nuts being too short and folks reusing the old ones because they are taller.

  • @AndyKruseChannel

    @AndyKruseChannel

    Жыл бұрын

    The first scenario you described. I don't recall if the other castle nuts were taller, so that might have helped if I would have kept them. The washers do the trick, but I feel icky for doing it. Someone mentioned that it was a product of buying cheap Chinese parts. Maybe, but hopefully the video will help anyone down stream, and they can make the decision to buy the same kit or not. :)

    Thanks! When lifting from the front, I use the crossmember bar under the oil pan. When placing the front of the car on jack stands, I put that at the frame rails that run under the floor board.

    I bought that kit too and ended up not using it. That kit kinda looked like a mix of V8 and 6 cyl steering parts. I got a refund and went to my local auto parts store and bought all Moog parts. Everything was smaller in that kit even the diameter of the center link. I liked the larger tie rod studs and nuts. Didn't you find you had to use a smaller wrench on the new parts?
