Installing Light-Weight Shiplap In Our RV

There are lots of options when it comes to installing shiplap in your RV. The real challenge is finding a light-weight option. We not only found a light-weight shiplap option but it was also a lot cheaper than we thought!
You'll see in this video, we decided to cover our carpet ceiling with shiplap as part of our RV renovation. We just couldn't get it off! It's just part of the RV reno process, you have to make quick creative decisions. For us we went to Home Depot and looked for options. We figured shiplap would be the best solution so we got several boards cut and got to work.
Keep following us for more information about our RV renovation as well as our journey!

My advice would be keep the roof maintenance up. This material ruins easily with water. Even high humidity over time will cause it to sag. As long as it's kept dry though, it should look nice for a good while. Also, for cutting holes, you can use a multi tool and a shop vac next to the blade to greatly minimize the mess. They're easier to use than a jig saw in many scenarios, & typically safer... but noisy little buggers. Looking good guys! Thanks for sharing. 😊

That shiplap looks dark. Did you stain it or did it come like that? Thanks!

I hate the carpet ceiling. It’s a dust magnet. Pain to screw through as well. This is exactly what I wanted to do in our motorhome. I was thinking of using the flooring stuff because it is tongue and groove. My motorhome has a curved ceiling so I would have to put the boards lengthwise. How much weight did it add?

OK, so is it permeable? Also, a link to the product would be great.

You look like you have rectangular vents in your ceiling, and not near as many as in my rv. All mine are round, plus i also have some speakers in the ceiling as well so I think shiplap is not the answer for me. Your thoughts.

You could spray a couple of layer of clear coat on the back side which would seal it.
