    When I did car audio for 15 year I used 4" x 3" doubled up thick house carpet(1yrd from Home Depot). Spent a lot of time kneeing down into cars/truck. Helps when you go from knee's to laying down on your side. Hate to think how much worse my knee's/legs would be today if I did not do this back in the day. Still used knee pads depending on the type of work.

    Thank you for the awesome video. Carpenter here but new to RV roofs and I'm doing my first right now. The stickiness after pulling the old membrane is bad! All the debris is getting in it (I have sheets and holes to replace.) I'm wondering if you have a good method for cleaning what gets in the sticky stuff? I'm at the point of I'm about to replace every sheet because I'm scared ill have a sharp piece of wood sticking up now and ruin the new roof! Any suggestions??

  • @fallenintocamping

    @fallenintocamping

    Ай бұрын

    The struggle is real…I try to minimize the amount of dirt that gets on the roof. If you noticed I cut the roof in sections and tried to pull it in a way that all of the debris gets scooped up with the membrane. But, if you didn’t do that, it’s tough. Obviously you want to make your roof as clean as possible. An air compressor can help blow some of the yuck off. A little dirt is okay. Definitely don’t want anything sticking up, but you can always lightly sand the rough spots. Every roof will be sticky, so don’t think it’s abnormal! I actually save my old shoes and use them for replacing roofs just to throw them away later…the old glue will stick to your shoes and will never come off 😂

    It’s a 25ft long piece. Sometimes they give you an extra foot or so, but I don’t like to rely on that

    Leave the old roof on.Why not just put the new roof over the old one? Unless it's too thick around the edges And what? Was the recpro the code again for you?

    It’s a very bad idea to overlap roof membranes. You’ve already gotten as far as taking the vents and AC off, what’s another hour of taking the skin off. It has to be done, there’s no way to avoid it. The code is MNIMXX3 🙂

    Haha definitely a pain. For sure a workout to take the old skin off. I know we make it look easy, but it’s exhausting 😂 When I say I used half the glue, which is pretty typical for me, it’s about a gallon. I could use more but it really depends on the temperature
