I'm getting ready to redo the roof of my RV travel trailer I just found out that it's Luan can I upgrade that to a heavier plywood
@fallenintocamping6 сағат бұрын
You can. I wouldn’t go any thicker than 7/16. If it’s an ultra light, I wouldn’t (you’ll compromise the integrity of the roof by removing the luan because it’s glued to the foam of the roof). Also keep in mind it will increase the weight of the trailer a bit too.

@@fallenintocamping well I have to repair it because it has water damage so I figured I would just replace the entire roof

Nice job. I'm curious how the liquid nails worked out? after it cured, was there visible lines from the outside where every stringer was? I know some adhesive will shrink as it cures pulling the material tight. which can show when fully cured.

I'm not sure where you got your information on r value but it's incorrect. The R-13 fiberglass you're installing is at 3 1/2" of thickness. Compare that to a Johns Manville polyiso insulation board that runs around R-6 per inch which would equal R-21or slightly more in a 3 1/2" cavity. Heck even styrofoam is R-5 per inch which is higher than fiberglass. The other major advantage foam board provides is air can't pass through it. If you take it a step further and use closed cell spray foam you get R-7 per inch and no air infiltration but sometimes air infiltration is a good thing.

Just love the new design and found your video so informative. Very impressed with the talent and diligence you put into doing this right!! Quality is so lacking even in brand new RVs that you've outdone them. Way to go!

Whoa…Praise Yahovah God! What an absolutely incredible build!!! You just leave me speechless. I see how HE blesses you with so many capabilities ‘for such a time as this’ but I would focus on what HE wants for you all as a family. I found myself following these RV builds but now I am looking at boat builds and tiny home builds; underground builds and even cave builds? If we look at this whole concept of being self sufficient then, and look at the state of the world; I would say PLEASE, teach others these skills and especially the youth! But ultimately we must all listen to the Holy Spirit. May Yahovah God bless you and use you greatly. Amen ❤️🔥

Great video. I picked up a 1971 Holiday rambler 31ft with all aluminum exterior and framing. I have already gutted the entire inside down to the studs and plan to renovate it with a entire new trailer chassis and with a whole new livable floor plan. I think you would enjoy a renovation like this. I've seen a bit of water damage repairs in my day. I'm currently working on a 03 22ft travel, entire front frame and roof.. Curious. this roof is flat, and walking on it is a bit sketchy. I'm not light, but the trusses just seem soft, not in a damaged way, But I have seen that some roofs are solid walking roofs, while others are really not meant for it. I was thinking of doing new trusses with an arch and thicker plywood. what it has now is maybe 1/8 under an edpm. Have you changed a flat to an arch roof ever?
