Installing Highway Dirt Bikes Ultimate Hand Guards on a KTM

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is a 2017 KTM 350 exc-f. I'm installing hand guards and custom dash accessories from Highway Dirt Bikes. My dirt bike also has performance upgrades from KTM and Husky.

Those look sweet I was undecided on the mirrors until I seen them on your bike. Definitely going to be the next purchase for the Honda. Thanks for a great video!!

Hey Paul, did you choose the “no/top clamp” option and then add your top clamp and display mount a la carte?

Mounting the odometer underneath? Did you have to find nuts and washers or is the mount threaded. Also wondered if you could reverse it and mount the dash with the key switch under and the odometer over to provide a little protection for the key.

I know it was forever ago, but where did you find the plastic “cup thingies” for the display mounts?

There are a couple of options you can do. 1. Use the plastic thingy that the speedometer was previously attached to. It has the bonus of providing a couple of wire guides. 2. You could go to a store like Ace Hardware and get a couple plastic spacers in that section where they sell loose nuts and bolts and other widgets

Nice vid! very helpful. I like when you tossed the KTM handguards on the floor ;) LOL -- What exact tool did you use to tap the threads on the end of the bars for the big bolts? I don't own a tool like that and I will need to pick one up to do this job. How did you know exactly what thread pattern to use? thx!

It's a 5/8-11 tap. If you buy the Ultimate Hand Guards from Highway Dirt Bikes, they come with the tap. www.highwaydirtbikes.com/index.php?app=ecom&ns=prodshow&ref=HG-500&sid=tdkb197lge409469h65q320ieb7y250t

Nice, great video! Also cool that HDB has it on their site :) BTW, do KTMs come with an unusually long throttle tube??? You sliced the end off and it still looked longer than most stock tubes I've seen!

I measured the length from the aluminum throttle housing to the end of the grip and it's 4.75 inches (after I cut it).

Thanks for the parts list and links. I’m ordering the exact same setup for my 17 250 EXC-F. It looks so much better than stock, can’t wait to get the parts in!

Hi! I ride some really pretty places here in Utah, but my dirt bike riding skills are not particularly interesting to watch. I go kinda slow and don't do any cool jumps or wheelies.

Lab Coat Paul by chance did you ever install the Trail Tech Voyager Pro with your Highway Dirtbike cockpit? I’m about the buy one and want this mount.

@@herbiesnerd I was happy with the stock KTM display. It have me hours, mph, and an odometer. I installed a trail tech display for a friend and was disappointed when it failed a year later because the wires are way too thin. They broke right next to the where I soldered them. I wish they would use a heavier gauge wire for their displays.
