Excellent video! I do things a little different but we all get the same end result! Usually my cut takes anywhere from 10-45 min all depends on the age of the building, I’ve come to realize the new buildings are a lot more easy when it comes to cutting the studs…. Thank you for taking the time in this video I’m sharing with my apprentice employees!!! 👍🏼

It’s been awhile since I cut a strike and I’m fixing to start cutting in 400 strikes, this was a great video reminding me how to do it thanks.

Wish they wouldn’t have ordered hes1006’s but they did. There are so many strikes that look so much better

We have a space with an entry door that uses one of those 5" square paddles to egress. I think I might be able to use one of these strikes to add keycard access while keeping the functionality of the existing lock. Thanks again for posting this.

How often do you replace the blades? And what blades do you use?

  • @brentsido8822

I've always used a rotary tool with metal cut off disks, heard of guys using angle grinders, was just talking to a long time friend in the field about using a multi tool, those blades are expensive aren't they, how many strikes can you cut in with one?

  • @yourfriendandmyfriend

I would say the cost is comparable to a pack of Dremel Wheels. As long as I'm not trying to cut too fast, apply too much pressure, and as long as I'm using my cutting wax those blades last a long time. I haven't counted but it feels very comparable to the dremel. Also, they're not too expensive.

Other than expensive they are more Safe than Dremel Blades breaking and flying all over the place, I would recommend the Diablo Blades for the multi-tool, they a bit more expensive but I have manager to cut at least 5 Electric Strikes straight with 1 Blade.

Ever done a transfer hinge? I'm struggling with how to get the wire through the door frame

I have done transfer hinges. Couple different styles. Sometimes the electrician runs conduit for us. Sometimes we have to fish it. If I have to fish, I'm usually in the wall if it's open, or if I can come down the door frame from above the ceiling

Also, sometimes I've had to use a drill bit 4 ft long to get a hole in the top of the door frame...

u have to get a long bit that bends and drill thro the door from the hinge to the lock !!its fun careful to not drill out from the side of the door !!

It could be one of several things. Check your power supply, check your fuse in your power supply for the lock, it might be the strike/lock itself. They are rated for about 50,000 duty cycles, so if it's a high traffic door, depending on traffic, you might get 5 years out of it...

Apologies, sometimes I'm in a hurry when I make these videos, here's the tool I used www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M18-FUEL-18-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-Brushless-Oscillating-Multi-Tool-Tool-Only-2836-20/314292748?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&pla&mtc=Shopping-RM-F_DYNM-G-D25T-Multi-MILWAUKEE-NA-NA-PLA_LIA-NA-RMP-MK111111111_1111111111_FY22_4051_LowFunnel&cm_mmc=Shopping-RM-F_DYNM-G-D25T-Multi-MILWAUKEE-NA-NA-PLA_LIA-NA-RMP-MK111111111_1111111111_FY22_4051_LowFunnel-71700000090253678-58700007642406104-92700069067207707&gclid=Cj0KCQiAmeKQBhDvARIsAHJ7mF780vTwED0zSJJU0FiYwRX2mc2S3EuJ8rTwHHosNcJJoFfvNfdrnkEaArxXEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

I used to use the dremel, but a coworker told me about the multi-tool. I like it a lot better because it has the reach that the Dremel did not. One of the downsides is it's louder, but it is a heck of a lot faster! Hearing protection recommended, also warning the customer of the noise

I will try to make a video showing me cutting the frame next time and how I do that and I will tag you in it - most of the time I'm working alone and I use both hands when I'm cutting so I can't hold the camera
