Thanks I really enjoyedthis. I already borrowed some of your great tips. My experience in construction is always practice a sqirt or two with spray foam or caulking before applying o a project. For the gap in some doors and buildings mounted on trees I simply stuff in preserved moss from the dollar store using a glue gun as I go. Then I give it a spray of Midge Podge to seal it.. I can then extend the moss to the trunk around the door for whatever effect is desired.

Hey shelli! Thx for the nice comments! It’s all covered in a few feet of snow at the moment, but should be back it in a few months:)

I’m so glad I came across your video. I have an old stump in my garden that I want to hollow out and turn into a planter, and I also want to add a fairy door to it. I was thinking I would have to carve out the stump where I wanted to place the fairy door, but this is so much simpler. Great idea!

Never heard of "Spray Foam Insulation." It's awesome. Can I get at Home Depot?

This is very good. I would like to see same only for a hinged door. I want to install a hinged fairy door that opens and closes. I want to attach this to the base of an outdoor tree (there is a small void that the door would open onto). So it needs to be fairly weatherproof. I believe I'd need to use aluminum wood screws to secure the aluminum hinge to the tree?

Interesting! We wanted to do the same thing! But ran out of time! I’m thinking a cardboard cutout in the hole to get the size right, and make the frame, and have the door attached to your frame with tiny hinges? Hmmm let me know how it works out!

Wanda, thank you for asking, the chainsaw carver that does our mushrooms, doors and Tikki art is Donny Perry, you can search him on Facebook. Currently there is one day left at the art in the garden show at Kiwi Gardens in Perth that he is attending. If you’re not far you can see some of his work in person 😊😊
