Installing Exterior Metal Siding: Farm Chains 5
In this episode of Farm Chains, we start installing exterior metal siding. We get to deal with a lot of rain and mud which is never fun, but we make it work!

By far the best building channel around. Your friendship and working relationship with Greg is awesome. Makes the shows even better.
21:30 May be the most epic Construction Team video ever recorded!!!
Watching you two build INCREDIBLE structures is one thing. Watching you two truly enjoy one another's company is PRICELESS ❤. You both are blessed beyond measure.
Greg saying “you good” when you kept missing the screw was hilarious 😂
I love the mud sound effects!
I love your working relationship! You guys are awesome and I love your detail and explanations of the work you do! Keep up the amazing work and information! ☺️
One of the many things I like about these guys is their attention to quality.
So so funny . Thank u . Just made my day . 😅 piggy back ride

Was that a hammer in his pocket? 😂😂😂
Production value on this episode is on point!
many times I've had to go back and read the manual, although I agree that design is not too clear for average person. My attitude as always that a product should be like a vending machine, clear and concise to the operator.
Kyle, I heavily recommend buying some 5 buckle over-boots! You can wear your normal shoes inside of them, and kick them off when you get to the scissor lift or the building. Clean shoes, lift, building, and pickup floor!
I’m predicting that those saw hoarse might make it one more video before they hit the dumpster.
Kyle, your attention to detail is excellent.
Thanks for filming again guys! 😁👍🏼😁👍🏼
I like the good, better, best. So true in many building components.
Looking fantastic. Great job.
It’s good to see you guys can have some fun also!
Love the new video editor.
Great job as always guys. 👍👍🏴🏴
Hahaha...love a man who can admit when he was wrong, as my dad used to say "if all else fails, read the instructions"? I bet they had the correct way to install it in the manual. Either way, great skill in building!
“I feel good that we’re out” three seconds later “should’ve just stayed home”😂
Kyle, you (and your crew) . . . make the Energizer Bunny look like a wimp!
Just finished building my 4th post frame. This one for my parents. I try to employ every trick you show. I have to say the Milwaukee nibblers are one of the best things I have ever bought for post framing. Next time you talk to Milwaukee, you should convince them to develop shears in the M12 battery line so I don't have to run 2 separate batteries. :) Great work as always!
Sound effects guy needs a raise.

Thanks - I get paid well already
man yall do great and neat work!!!!!
You can't say this team doesn't enjoy each journey.
I have the j-channel built into my garage door trim so it is all one piece, eliminates the need for the extra j along the jamb
0:01 Double Dare Physical Challenge? 14:30 Like all those muddy boots vids you can find all over . 21:30 Finally! Some play to balance out the work!
21:40 even better than the e-bike video
Haha yo that hammer in the pocket joke had me dying 😂
I've done door trim the same way in the past. I just had a 2x4 all the way around the face making a solid bold border around the door
Poke-Yoke opportunity with the dust extractor!!!
Rotflmao, that piggyback ride killed me. Building is looking great.
Greg would have figured out the drill if you would have asked him! I think it's awesome to see the quality work you do. I enjoy your videos!
I agree with the confusion about the way the boot goes on the hammer drill. Directions these days are way to vague. Your suggestion of making it so that the boot will only go on the right way makes a lot of sense. Try to keep dry. Thanks for a great video.
Dude your an awesome guy for sharing your experience. There has been many ocasiones with Milwaukee tools where I think I have it correct but at the same time confused. Not very clear some times.
Great camaraderie!😂 Disciplined work ethic!
Hey Kyle I love that u don't mind the mud ,,,,but,,,,,,,,u should try spreading straw helps us a lot!!😊😊😂
Just a footnote about Block It house wrap. I was going to have Menards ship me a roll, 9' x 75', I think it was. 80-90 bucks not bad right? They wanted $800 for shipping!!
Hilarious! I would have done the same thing with the vacuum foot thing.
I'm 3/4 the way through this video and I've never laughed so hard.........
LookinG 👀 GooD 👍
“Is that a hammer in your pocket!?” 😂😂😂
Great work, Kyle. What determines if you use sheathing on your framing, or not?
I’d have put that vacuum attachment on wrong too lol
Wish these guys could build my place
Great da GOAT 🐐
piggy back, lmao. that is some dedicated partnership there. "is that a hammer in your pocket",?
North. The arrow always points North. LOL.
Morton has almost identical OHD trim.
Milwaukee needs to poka-yoke that dust collector !
Ya gotta hammer in your pocket?!
I'm addicted to learning from RR. Would I need wood sheathing for shear if I was going to add a small apartment or is wood cross bracing enough?
Megadeck on tracks?I want in on the profits!!
Good Afternoon Kyle I follow your company on KZread and really enjoy the content I was a carpenter for 6 years prior to becoming an insurance agency owner and have continued in it as a hobby I am also a tool fanatic like you I was hoping to get your opinion on an upcoming building project My father and I are building him a farm machinery storage shed It will be 50’x 80’ with 16’6” walls We are framing the walls with 2x6’s - 16” center and sheeting with 1/2” OSB The trusses will be 4’ on center with purling’s added after No windows - 2 walk doors and 2 garage doors one of which is large and other one is small He does not plan to heat and cool this space but the foundation is all concrete As of now he doesn’t plan to insulate it The exterior walls and roof will be metal with two gable end vents We are in SW Iowa so we would have a similar climate to where you’re at I believe My concern is that the building will sweat and condensate as it will be very tight I know your buildings are very tight as well so I wondered if you have had any clients leave them uninsulated and without HVAC and left them closed 90% of the time I appreciate you taking the time to read this Thank You
Sorry if this was mentioned in a video but the X bracing that isn't in the corner is that only because of the window that is in the corner bay so you went with next best which would be the next bay over or does it matter? Like could you put it in the middle of the wall with the same effect
Concrete guy cutting at 24:25 without a mask. 😮
We're all gonna look back at this video soon, and think "OMG IT MADE SO MUCH SENSE"... I WONDER IF THAT "PIGGY BACK" "LIFT UP" AND "WEATHERS COMING" "HEAR IT? THUNDER" WHAT DO I KNOW IM JUST A CARPENTER. 🤣😇 MY COMMENT ONLY SEEMS SKITZO. UNTIL I SEE YOU IN THE CLOUDS. 🙃 🦁
Volt INU ⚡️⚡️⚡️🌸🌺🌸🌺⚡️⚡️⚡️
Where can I snag one of thise marking pens?
23:00- Just a couple weeks ago, you said in one of our videos that you never pre-punch metal panels?? But you pre-punched them here. What am I missing???
Здравствуйте, что за молоток у вас которым прибиваете материал. В нём уже есть скобы? И стреляют на удар! Я правильно понял?
If all else fails, read the directions! LOL
Probably shoulda RTFM, Kyle LOL.
Piggy back ride lol
Why don’t you have composite mega deck mats to throw down on muddy job sites? Seems like you could get a sponsorship to highlight their benefits for protecting the site from damage and ability to increase productivity.. As Kyle always says “buy once cry once”… I mean I’m just a farmer and I own some 🤷🏻♂️🤔

I own 8 mats....I am just usualy waiting til last resort to haul them and handle them...they are a ton of work
Is that a hammer in Greg's pocket or is he happy to see you?

ever consider sand/hay as a perimeter base ?

Hay is for horses, straw is cheaper. Grass? Well, depending on the quality. 😏
Trims!?!?!?!lol
Who was the one doing all the complaining this episode? It wasn't Greg. 😅
IS THAT A HAMMER IN YOUR POCKET!
Thats why you should read the instruction manual. But who does that? 😅
The dust extractor is poor design if the customer can put the part in either way. If a part only works one way then that is how it should be installed. One issue with designing on computers is that there is no gravity, wind, etc.
Never meant a grown man that is scared of mud.
you're not simple minded lol. Things should be poke-yoked to avoid that. You solved a problem they should've caught
Hahaha, so you’re going to be the reason they make it idiot proof… seriously though, awesome content!
Why no concrete foundation? What state is this because there doesn't seem to be a permit process based on UBC (universal building codes) Don't get me wrong I like freedom and less draconian interference.

Those laminated posts are sitting on top of concrete footers, concrete floor will be poured after the building is dried in.

lol I am confused at this dudes comment....it's on a concrete wall
This dude here. If you know anything about construction and have watched his videos. You know everything he touches he does completely wrong. He won't be in business to long. I've known so many so called contractors like him. He's got the look, has the talk game down. And fools the hell out of customers. Because they don't know. But all the subs and other contractors just laughing at him. And tell customers do not mess with him.
Crap design that that piece goes in both ways on the hammer drill.... Basic stuff.
It seems to me that you wine a lot, try doing this work at 20 degrees in two feet of slush

Hey willy, stop whining
if you get a drill and make a small hole you can make your cuts to the same spot.
Lol dude would rather blame the company over the tool not being desgined properly when it was clearly 100% operator error and u didnt even read the instructions to see which way was the right way to insert the brush
