Installing ELRS in my TinyGo Let’s me use ANY Radio | But There’s a Catch!

The TinyGo 4K is one of the best RTF kits on the FPV market. So good in fact, that after being on the market for over a year, it still finished tied when compared to one of the newest RTF kits in the hobby. The TinyGo however, is not perfect by any means. One of the most frustrating aspects, is its inability to interact with modern and more advanced radios. Today we solve this problem by installing ELRS to the TinyGo. This receiver install would typically be straight forward, and routine, but there are some trouble spots to consider when conducting this procedure. Make sure you watch throughout, to avoid these trouble spots.

I just did this mod and started flying the TinyGo with my TX16S (ELRS) today... I love it!! Luckily I did NOT have to install the 1K-ohm resistor. When I built my configuration, I used EdgeTX passthrough to load onto the controller and Wifi to load configuration from my cellphone. I had some other challenges in getting set up in Beta Flight... but thanks to your video (and a couple others) I was able to get it to work. Interestingly, this is my first FPV drone ever.... my other quads are the Mavic 2E and the Mini 3 Pro. Can't wait to build a drone from scratch!!! Thanks for the great videos

Followed this tutorial and used a RadioMaster receiver; I actually did the swap before I ever got the drone flying in the first place. For some reason my board thinks it's backwards so I had to compensate for that. The Radiomaster pocket controller is a joy. Now to replace the vtx/camera that never worked right either. They sent me a real dud but glad it's going now. I did an absolutely horrible solder job but it still works :)

P.S. You should consider the Ph2.0 Pigtail to XT30 conversion. Once you do that, the TinyGo is 2s/3s. I did that mod and was amazed with its new capabilities.

Very helpful video. I had a similar thing happen on a recent build with the GEPRC FC for DJI. I built a really light naked vista based around the Happymodel Crux3, but using this flight controller. I had already flashed and bound my ep2 using a bench power supply. The problem it caused me is that the drone would fly when tested-------until I plugged in the naked vista. Then the ep2 would stop communicating. I didn't do the research you did. I had a crossfire nano lying around and used it instead, which fixed the problem. That said, I'd much rather have the EP2 on such a tiny build just to not have to fool around with an external antenna and to save a few grams, so I am ordering some resistors today. Thanks!

@@OneManUnmanned I just hit the bell on your channel. I try to watch whenever they pop up, but for some reason, the KZread algorithm had quit sending them my way. Anyway, it was pretty random that I happened to watch this video tonight and once I saw the flight controller you were using, I kept watching because of my experience with it. I was trying to think of some hashtag or something you could add that would help for people searching for this solution, because I am sure we are not the only two that have had this problem, and this clearly illustrates how to fix it.

I appreciate you watching the video...As far as the algorithm, YT does not honor the Subscription button(or bell) like it used to. It will only push content it thinks you'll watch, or relevant content that you've watched in the past. Having said that, I appreciate you hitting the bell nonetheless. I will try to better use the hashtag so that my content is searchable.

Hello One Man, I have the same problem with my tiny go and the ERLS and still couldn't match it, but now I think I have understand what is the problem, I need to connect the 3v3 to the rx righ¿? but I have the beta fpv tower antenna and radio lite 2 se, so do I need a to use a pull up resister to connect or could be any other simple cable like the blue, yellow or white one. I will appreciated so much you help cause im new on this world and after a month since I bought it and a lot of simulator, could make a few flights, then I discovered the erls world and decide to get into it by my self but now can't fly cause I couldn't match it and till now, i didn't now why, but I have the answer thanks to you. I really don't understand too much about electronics components so I´m not sure if need the pull tip resister or can use any other wire and don't burn it. Thanks hermano for the info and hope you can resolve my doubt

I know this is a year old but hoping you might be able to help me out. I am trying to do the same thing to my newly acquired Thinking P16. I have a HappyModel EP1 soldered to the UART2 of the fc. I was able to connect to the wifi hotspot and update it to version 3 to match my radio. I go into BetaFlight and enable the Serial Rx on UART2. I have telemetry with my radio but see now stick/button movement on the Betaflight Receivers tab. What am I doing wrong?

I don’t know what version of the Configurator you’re using, but make sure the UART for the receiver is correct in the Ports tab and Serial RX is selected. If your go to the Receiver tab, the Serial Receiver Provider needs to be “CRSF” and Receiver Mode needs to be “Serial”. Don’t forget to safe after you make those changes.

@@OneManUnmanned Wow thanks for the quick reply. I definitely enabled the Serial RX on UART2 and checked the Receivers tab to ensure that Serial and CRSF were selected. I also double checked the RX from the receiver went to the TX of the fc and TX to RX. Am I missing anything else?

Hi. saw your video and learned the command for rxrange to delimit points. I have a problem, my drone after update, is not flying, when I turn it on, it activates the engines and jumps like in turtle mode. I noticed that in betaflight the yaw control is at the maximum 2000, I already put the old firmware and it was the same. In the control tab, the drone is rotating and the yaw on 2000. how to configure it to be in the middle (1500)? And also on the PID tab, all the commands go from 0 deg/s- 667 deg/s, when I turn on the radio the yaw goes from 0 to 667deg, while the others remain at 0 deg

Is there a way to connect GR8 to a PC to play with simulators? I thought I'll be able to fly some hours with it before I start crashing my TinyGO 4K into walls but there's no bluetooth or USB port on the radio. It's a shame because I've got a VR set, I've got a simulator, I have this radio in my hands and it's snowy -20°C winter (that's -4°F) so batteries will die outside. All I'm missing is a way to connect all that together.

There is no way to connect the radio to a computer hence why this video is so valuable. I've mentioned it here in other videos: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mZNr1quSpbC1gLQ.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/e31tzMqLptXeYag.html The TinyGo can be flown indoors..I would suggest Angle mode while learning, if it's your 1st FPV drone. @@OneManUnmanned Thank you very much, I'll study those religiously! BTW I've found out there's a way to connect any 4+ bit chipset flight controller to a PC (the guy in the video says F4 or F7 controller, I'm guessing it means available memory bits) but it requires flashing and either dismantling the drone to get that flight controller or buying an extra one (or connecting and powering up the controller *in* your drone which will probably require to connect the battery and risk the drone flying off and ripping connectors). You connect the controller to the PC via USB, set it to act as a USB joystick with Betaflight and then bind the radio to the controller. Here's a video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qamjxNyop6_MmpM.html

It has a more capable drone that can fly indoors and outdoors as well as record in 1080p or 4K. The goggles that come with the EZ Pilot Pro also does not record video(has no DVR).
