    A heated floor is very comfortable, but it is not clear whether it cools as well. The heat pump air conditioners that are fitted in the roof can cool and heat, using a third of the power that a heater uses. It runs on electricity. Natural gas is very cheap for heating.

    Great video, as always! Love your casual, comfortable presentations 👍 Now, about the system... I was all about considering this upgrade, but, quite honestly, there is no way that a roll of PEX, all the fittings, etc., lumber, insulation and plumbing and electrical components warrant a $7,000+ price. The expertise of installing the system and the time to do so still doesn't account for that price. Sorry, but that's just not reasonable. Thanks for the video though! Very important info was included. See you in your next video! Be safe!

    That’s really awesome but the problem I’m seeing is now you have all that stuff in your way and have to build the rest of your van around it. It seems kind of like a hassle lol.

  • @ToryDelury

    @ToryDelury

    4 ай бұрын

    This unit will be inside my bench seat so luckily not too much of a hassle to build around as I’ll just place the bench over it. It does mess up my plans for the placement of the wall for the garage area. But honestly we went over all the different places I could put it & this was the best option I had. However honestly I didn’t realize the unit was SO BIG! Not that it would change my mind on the system but it’s just taking up a lot of room I hadn’t planned around, And I will say I do wish I had put down the vinyl flooring first but… hindsight is always 20/20 😅

  • @PorchPotatoMike

    Will you be installing flooring directly on top of this layer? Seems like the metal tape is fragile and may make direct adhesion difficult.

  • @ToryDelury

    @ToryDelury

    4 ай бұрын

    That is such a great point, I think they are far apart enough I won’t have a problem but we will definitely see when I get to that portion of the build, the tape has numerous purposes. It keeps dirt out of the cracks and away from the piping and it marks where the tubing is so that you never screw into it (there is a third reason that has to do with the actual heat but I can’t recall what it is right now). But basically the tape is super important but I definitely see your concern & I’m interested to see the results when I get there ☺️

    Tory, as always you strive to find the solution to what has created the worst experience for you Van-Life, with my sincere admiration for how you share your happy or sad moments with such a flair (knuckleheaded) banter. You are spot on with this heating solution. You know about the (Yeti Link Vehicle Integration Kit) the new YETI PRO 4000 it’s an updated LiFePO4 battery tech means it can last for over 10 years. Tory, please research using a (dedicated Alternator with a Second Battery) you might have a second battery most Vans have a backup. You will not need it for the motor, so disconnect it from the existing hook-up. The reason most direct battery hook-ups for the Vehicle Generator have so many issues is that manufacturers use Smart alternators essentially those that have their output voltage controlled externally via the Engine Control Unit (ECU). The smart alternator system allows the vehicle to control the output voltage from the alternator based on vehicle operating conditions to reduce electrical load and in turn mechanical load on the engine by the alternator, this renders it unsuccessful at charging a secondary battery system to a usable level.

    This doesnt make sense. Half a gallon of fuel is 20kwh of energy if 500wh goes to heating then it's a 5% efficiency system which is unspeakably dismal. A diesel air heater has a 90% efficiency. Like how will you heat up the van from 500wh of energy anyway? Your body radiates 60-70 watts at all times to begin with. It's as if you wanted to make the van toasty with a third of your bodyheat. Like how does this guy know how much heating will be needed in a day anyway? As if it didnt depend on a shittona factors... I think you are being scammed here big time...i mean i'm not saying it aint gonna work but this guy is speaking pure bollox that much is true...it just doesnt make any goddam sense...
