Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This time at the Quick Speed Shop I am installing a PerTronix electronic ignition module and 1.5 ohm coil to replace the dead ignition in the 283 Chevy in the Model A Hot Rod Shop Truck.
Ignition Module: PNX-1181S
Coil: PNX-40011

The Shop Dr. @ work... Fired UP sounds good!!!! Can't wait to ride along in the next video.
Seems like a fair amount of people have problems with Pertronix products. Years ago I converted one of those distributors to the external coil HEI components for a friend. The HEI setup is still going strong with zero problems 20 years later and parts are available most any time at most any parts store.
AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME!
Bad ass man

Thanks!
turn your idle down so the mech advance isn;t adding while you are setting initial.. sbc. with cam intake, headers?? should be about 16 initial and 34-36 total with mech. adv full on.
So do you have to mess with the timing if you do convert to this system

It doesn't affect engine timing. Provides more efficient electronic ignition. That said you should always check timing with a timing light anytime you work on ignition system.
Hello Nice Video... Will that kit work on a standard distributor I want to get rid of my points.. Also using a Accel Super Coil? Thank You PS..... How do you find this kit are you happy with the paformance?

Yes it will work. Accel coil will work as long as its the ohms match the Pertronix.

Always starts right up and runs good.
How does the module get triggered? You didn’t reinstall the magnets under the advance mechanism?

This new kit doesn't use the ring. It looks at points lobe on the distributor.

@@QuickSpeedShop I also could not see where you reinstalled the magnetic ring in the video. I was confused that you had to use screws to get the cap back on instead of the bolts that are normally used with the magnetic ring and you mentioned that the new sensor detects the lobes on the distributor shaft.

Sure 👍
Smoke them tires!!!!
If this particular kit doesn't require the magnets on the ring then why do they include it in the kit? A very confusing video.

I replaced the old style Pertronix kit that used the ring with a new Pertronix kit that doesn't use the ring. In the beginning, I said the old one failed. The new one looks at the distributor shaft lobe which I also said. I clearly dump the new parts out of the box and there is clearly no ring in the new box. I then diassemble the distributor, remove the old ring and pickup, install the new pickup, and then reassemble the distributor. I don't know what is confusing about any of this?

It's confusing because you said you had installed that magnetic ring and now you're saying you didn't this kit doesn't need it you were not very clear you should think your thoughts through before you speak on to your camera.

I said, my old Pertronix kit had failed. I was removing it, in the Disassembly chapter of the video, which would imply that it was already there previously, from the old kit. I then, open the new kit, show the components, and install them. Feel free to make your own install video if you think mine is substandard.
My Pertronix on my 70 Z28 lasted about 15 yrs before heat eventually killed it, and yes I used a Pertronix coil. I then went with a Crane Xri and it lasted about 15 yrs using a MSD Blaster 2 coil. Now I’m back using points again cause the reviews of all of these modules no matter what brand are junk, and sometimes will be dead out of the box. Save your money. Made in China is junk.
