No problem! The chrome knobs came as standard with the car, I would of thought if you go to your local car scrapper or maybe eBay you’ll be able to find them?? Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

Thinking of getting this for the partners Polo. Did you need to disconnect the battery before doing this and did this install cause any faults to show on the dash?

Nope, it was a simple unplug from the old radio and plug into the new one without disconnecting the battery and no dash faults at all! Nice, simple, plug and play!

do you have to turn off the headunit manually or does it shut off automatically when you turn off the engine? reading some reviews about draining battery

With the one I have, once the keys come out of the ignition you’ll have a message on the screen that says “please don’t forget your phone” and once you either click ok or wait for around 10-20 seconds the unit then shuts off completely, in the time I have had the unit I haven’t had a single battery issue! Hope this helps bud!

Did your original unit come with DAB radio? Aware this is lost when upgrading (I’ve just ordered mine), is there any difference in antennas/adapters? I have a 2012 polo 6r which has the same head unit as yours. Also, do you need any adapters with this or is it as simple as plug and play? Just trying to ensure I’m prepared for install when it arrives! Great video btw👍

The original unit didn’t come with DAB, just the standard FM/AM radio, I had an adapter that came in the kit that plugged in as shown in the video but I would of thought they’re all the same?🤔 It’s all plug and play as long as you have the antenna adapter, the job will take you no longer than 5-10 minutes, easy plug and play! Thank you very much; appreciate it!

The unit it self has built in Bluetooth, all you’ll need to do is just connect your phone and you’re good to go! And correct they do! Simple plug and play!

Only other question I've had is about the reverse function. I don't have not do I want a reverse camera. I have sensors at front and back of my VW Sharan and just want the above view of sensors when reversing. Is there a model number I need to buy to have this as a default? Thanks for the quick response.

That’s a good question, I know with my one that when you put the car into reverse it automatically comes up with the reversing camera feature and I would like to expect that your sensors would work with it too! But unfortunately I’m not 100% sure, sorry I can’t be any more help on that one buddy!

Did you need any converters for the cables because I was looking at the rcd330 unit and it doesn’t seem to have the big black connector female port for it

With the unit that I bought, the power cable from the vehicle connected directly into the unit but with the antenna lead you’ll need to get the adapter which I believe I show in the video, I hope that helps!

Hi, Unfortunately with the one I bought the sound was already working and it switches itself off once the keys come out of the ignition, Sorry I can’t be much help!

Sound mate, I’m thinking of getting this for my polo which is 2011 plate. Just curious what actually happens with the screen/any sound when you reverse?

When you put it into reverse you’ll have no sound if you don’t have a rear camera installed but it will come up and say no rear view camera available and you’ll have to press ok which you get used to, If you do have a reversing camera it will just automatically bring it up when you put the car into reverse! Hope that helps!

I may vary on where you’re from but I received mine about 2-3 weeks after ordering as it was shipped from Saudi Arabia to the UK but was definitely worth the wait! hope that helped!☺️

You’ll have to ask the seller if it will or if it’s the same design as the one in the window! And yes all sound settings can be adjusted from the new unit!

Sorry this may sound like a daft question but do you have to connect your phone or can it work independently?

Definitely not a daft question, If you’d like to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto you’ll have to use USB that way, but you can also use Bluetooth to make calls wirelessly!

Ah yes, for the steering wheel buttons I do believe you may need an adapter, unfortunately with the polo I worked on it didn’t have any wheel buttons, I’m sure if you get in touch with sellers they ca refer you to the correct adapters!

My car didn’t come with Bluetooth either, and the radio does come with Bluetooth so yes that will solve the issue!😀 Iv seen reports of battery drains from the radio but I have never experienced this? Has worked perfectly and no drain! And nope, no software issues, I normally keep an eye on rcd330plus.com as they update the website with new software updates so it’s worth keeping an eye’ Hope this helped👋🏽

I also have a trendline 1.4 polo 2012, bluetooth works for me it’s just a hassle to find it at first. However I’m looking into buying one of these headunits because they look much more modern than the basic 8bit one. Also @BTD thanks for making the video easy to understand and straight to the point. I installed my radio and havent had any issues, definitely would recommend this upgrade from the rcd310, especially if you dont have the factory bluetooth module installed. thanks for the helpful video! (my polo is 2011)

Yes unfortunately so, but I have seen adapters on the market that can make it wireless but yes, only by USB!

With the model I have you have access to maps from your IPhone/Android such as Google Maps & Waze, so as long as those apps can pinch or multitouch then you should be fine 😌

Hi, can you make hands free calls through this unit? The only way I could get Bluetooth to work in my car was through TPK music which was dreadful

It comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto built in, all you need is the USB cable for your phone and you’re good to go!

Hi, I have heard many people saying about this I’m their cars, unfortunately with this one we put in the polo, once the keys come out of the ignition the radio goes off completely.. so I’m not too sure what you could do🤔 May be an idea to get hold of someone to run a direct wire into your fuse box to completely stop power to it after the engine stops? Sorry I can’t be much help!

If it’s a similar setup then I don’t see why not! And all I needed to replace was an arial adapter that came with the new radio! So I would say it doesn’t need any other wiring!

Most original stereo that came with the car will have the code in the manual or once you unscrew it out it will be written on the label or somewhere on there if not then you need to bring it to VW and they can find it at a small charge. Remember if you take the power lead out I will disconnect from battery and needs a code to get it back on and working again in most cases. New system these days 1 in 100 never have this so you don't need to worry. Hopefully I've answered your question 👍👍👍

Great insightful video. After reading through the comments regarding battery draining issues. I’ve seen that this only occurs if the device is left on. Does this have to be turned off manually everytime, or is there a way that it can turn off when the ignition is off. Only asking as if I were to install this I would likely forget every time 😂

I'm just repeating what I heard from a friend so don't take this as legit advice. I know someone who had the battery drain issue and they said it was because it was wired to the battery and making the battery stay on - they took it to someone who wired it up to the AC which stopped it from happening apparently.

No problem at all, Haven’t come across any issues at the moment the system it’s self is incredible and completely changes the car, only issue I had was using Waze through CarPlay can be a bit odd but once you restart Carplay it’s absolutely fine! Bro could you do me huge favour. My after market radio is broken so I put my old oem radio back on, the same one as yours in the same car. After I take the key out I can still turn on the headunit, is this normal for vw polo, is that the case with yours. I haven’t had it in for a while so I can’t figure out if I’ve done something wrong.

Yes, you’re able to use the radio with the engine and ignition off, that is normal on the VW Polos! Hope this helps!☺️

Thank you! I’ve done some reading and some people say they get a rather annoying prompt when put in reverse on the screen saying there was no back up camera installed in vehicles which don’t have one standard. Have you had this issue? Also I can see the vehicle in the video doesn’t have them but do you know by chance if it supports steering wheel buttons on MK6 golf? Thanks!

I have a 2012 polo can I fit a normal radio in this. Ones where the fasiers come of the radio for security. Or do I have to buy anything extra for it

Ah I get you know, no problem mate 😂 Um, with that one I’m not too sure, I know with websites like Pioneer you can put in you car details and it will tell you if it will fit said car and recommend the fasia you will need, but until you know it will fit then I’m not too sure, sorry I can’t be much help!

Also my car is a 59 polo as it was made in january 2010 so it is the newer shape. I’m not sure if it has bluetooth. Will it still work without bluetooth or can i install bluetooth? It comes up as an option on my current radio but never on my phone to connect.

I had the same issue with the original unit, you have the Bluetooth connection option, but it never actually works, That’s another reason why I upgraded!

Well, the Bluetooth is in the new unit so yes! Works amazing, and comes with a built in mic and it’s incredibly clear!

Does this allow for music to be played via Bluetooth without the usb connection?

Yep, can play music via Bluetooth and also make phone calls via Bluetooth too! Super simple to setup!

Does it show the park pilot? Reversing sensor ?

If you have factory parking sensors I believe it will work when you put the car into reverse and if not you can buy sensors from eBay 😌

Nope, all you’ll need is a pry tool and a screwdriver to undo/do up the screws, the connections fit straight into the OEM connector in the car! 😄

As long as the connector is the same and the screw holes etc then I wouldn’t see why not?

Yep, only via USB and not wireless but it works!

Ah I understand what you mean now, Off the top of my head I think you need a cable adapter to be able to run the steering wheel buttons with the radio but if I’m being perfectly honest I’m not 100% sure about it! I linked the radio in the description, maybe contact the seller and see if they can help any further? Sorry I couldn’t be of much help!

Not on the system it self, but it supports apple CarPlay and android auto so you’ll be able to connect up and use that as I can’t fault using Waze over any other satellite navigation system!

Around £175 and no it’s aftermarket!

Three questions 1. Does this works on any VW, including a 2009 Passat and you might need some adapters for the radio/ antenna connectors? 2.have you experienced any battery drain issues 3. Where can I buy this from? Can you post a link from where you bought yours?

Hi, 1. To answer your question about it fitting, as long as the design of the radio is similar to the one in my video then I would say it would? But always make sure with the seller is my best answer, The person I bought my radio from gave the antenna for free and the radio leads just went straight into the back of the unit plug and play, but dependable on your unit you may need an adapter kit,; sorry to be less help! 2. From what I know, I don’t think so? You can adjust the levels of bass etc in the settings on the radio, check them first and see if they make a difference?

got the same thing... ordered 330 and they shipped me the rcd360. put it in my car, after a couple days battery drained...
