Installing a Child Restraint System (CRS) on an Airplane

A CRS is a hard-backed child safety seat that is approved by the government for use in both motor vehicles and aircraft. FAA controls the approval of some but not all CRSs. Not all car seats are approved for use in airplanes. Additional information is available on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.
Make sure your CRS is government approved and has "This restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft" printed on it. Otherwise, you may be asked to check the CRS as baggage.

The video shows installing the seat in the emergency exit. (I believe that's not permitted)

Some widebody aircraft do not consider certain bulkheads as the exit row. Despite that, I think they were just using the bulkhead in this video for filming purposes, and it looks like it was in a cabin trainer and not an actual airplane.
Ugh! Do NOT check for movement at the top of the seat. Only at the belt bath. That was stated but shows her yanking on the top of the seat. Also it’s only necessary to check with the strength of a firm hand shake.
Fits perfectly rear-facing in our truck, which has a slightly smaller back seats. kzread.infoUgkx6_FKRYB2ClSPRyjcd8HptiCS3EiQoNX4 Feels as comfy and plush as our Graco Contender carseat.
what about rear facing car seat on airplane?

Imagine taking off facing backwards and landing backwards, that would feel so weird.

TheCreed_sLair BMHL some airlines’ business class do that. Notably British Airways’ old Business class

@@iSuom I know, I've seen some
Rear facing should be used until the child reaches the maximum limits on the seat, not 20lbs to insure the safety of the child.
This is all great when you have the room to install like this. I'm going to be flying soon and I will be squeezing in between the seat plus trying to keep a handle on my 1.5 year old. He will be RF as I prefer my son to be the safest he can be though I might have to FF him for our trip. A child should RF to as close as 4 as possible FAAnews. They are not safe even as 20lbs or 2 years old due to their neck and spine not being stong enough for a FF impact.
I am traveling with my 2.5 yr old and airline told me i cant have my car seat on the seat if over 2yrs old she is consider a child not infant so i have to check in my car seat.

Genesis Lariviere why is this necessary? Enought that in car the children dont can move because of the seat obligatory..
but I loved this so much
Are airlines required to let children fly for free?

Only if they don’t have their own seat. This is a cheaper but unsafe and uncomfortable option.
Aduh lieur :(
This is useless, why would you have to worry about a crash if your on a plane? Is usually only 737’s, if your not on a 737 then don’t use it

The main worry is turbulence. If the baby is a lap baby only and the turbulence is strong enough the baby will go flying and be injured. Also sometimes landing can be a little rough and its best to keep the baby secure.

@@EnixQueen That’s what airplane seatbelts are for.

@@thecreedslair would be nice if 1 year olds didn't wiggle around in the airplane seatbelts🤣 but over all carseats are safest for babies.

@@EnixQueen There still isn’t really anything to worry about though
I think getting lead out of ga aviation is a bit more important 🤔 😕 😅... some people can't afford to lose 15 IQ points
