I know this is a 5yr old video, but I wanted to share some preventative maintenance tip that will save headachs for anyone installing this kit from chasing lighting problems down the road. 1st when you drill your grounding hole thoroughly remove the corrosion from the surface that the eyelet will make contact with, apply di-electric grease to the area and the screw, then for added protection apply an electrical sealant to the area to prevent water intrusion and prevent the return of corrosion. Also it would be wise to apply the grease to the plug connections. A good electrical ground is paramount for a correctly working electrical system.

Just did this the hard way and used an autozone kit. Had to tap the blue backup wire and orange charge wire on the truck harness frame rail along with the reverse light wire behind the tail light. This kit would have made it much easier lol

On mine there's a ground bolt already there above the connector I just unscrewed it and put the new ground eye with the factory one, I had to lower the spare to get to it.

I have the exact same connection on my Ford f150, that's in your video. But my connection is on the drivers side. Not in the center, where yours seems to be????? I really couldn't tell though in the video. Does this matter? I ask because when I unplugged it; just the driver's light wouldn't work. So I'm thinking it's only for the drivers side.

I just got this kit a few days ago. It came with 2 large green 30amp fuses. Your video didn’t address these fuses.

I didn't see the white nylon forked clip that holds the male into the female after you slide them together in your video. Push the parts together like you did, then slice the clip in. It should have been part of your Curt kit. It may not have been packed or you may have lost it while opening the kit. The under the bumper mount works fine until you back into a snowbank or sand pile. I ripped mine off and broke it when backing into a dry ditch to lower the back end of the truck to off-load a riding mower with out having to use ramps. The opposite bank of the ditch did the damage. I remounted the new receptacle next to the moved license plate on the bumper. A hole saw was needed for the receptacle and a small drill bit for the mounting screws. The white clip mentioned above was also broken and I am having a hard time getting one. An auto salvage yard is next on the schedule.

Thanks for the heads up. My wiring and connections are still solid. Have not had any connection loss or issues. Good luck on finding the clip.

Just bought this kit a few days ago. My kit didn’t have this white clip either. Maybe they stopped including it.

Would you recommend coating the M/F plugs with some dia-electric grease to prevent corrosion? Thanks for your video and reply. It has been a tremendous help.

Is the connector for the brake controller already installed in the truck?

I bought a P3 brake controller with the pre wired cable. It snaps into a port under near the steering wheel. The other end plugs into he back of the P3.

All you need is the fuse,s and the plug and you have brakes or do I need a brake controller also where do I get these fuses

After you install this wiring harness, it will just give you a 7pin plug at the back of the truck. You still need to have a brake controller to control the brakes on the trailer. I am going through the installs right now. I have this kit and got the P3 brake controller.
