Installing a 40FT Shipping Container Shelter | Expanding The Workshop! | Part 2

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

See how we install our 40ft shipping container shelter dome and cover without any instructions! The weather wasn’t the best for this installation but it needed to get done and we soon realised after unpacking the kit that there was NO instruction manual supplied. But we had already hired a 4WD trailer mounted boom lift for the day so decided to get it done anyway. This shelter dome is 40ft long x 40ft wide and 6 metres tall and will be installed between our two 40ft shipping containers. This is going to be a great upgrade for our outside welding & fabrication area!

I totally agree. Karen’s filming, camera angles, lighting, editing, now-and-then talk over, and constant support to Curtis to explain, are all at the highest level. It often takes a second genius to explain/show/make plain the work of a genius. I think this is the pair we have with Curtis and Karen. Karen, thank you so much for bringing Curtis’ multi-dimensional expertise out to the world. It clearly is requiring your own tremendous multi-dimensional expertise.

I've said it before but I'm constantly fascinated in how your mind works with mechanical issues and problem solving. Thinking to put tape on the joints where the tarp might rip was excellent but the fact that you took something like this and were able to assemble it with no instructions (not to mention extra/missing) parts is phenomenal. I have 6 of these at my place. On my second year with them. So far I have been happy. Piece of advice: The brackets That attach to the containers need to be welded to the containers or at a minimum the Allen keys checked monthly. They do back out and slip off. Had 2 shelters fail on the same day where they slipped off the square tubing on the top of the container. Bent up the frame a bit and I had to remove all my junk to get them repaired. Also everything underneath does still get wet in the rain because they are so tall with or without the wall up. Good luck. Love my extra shade.

4:41- I love that she said “THEY went over to the other container…” I just love those invisible helpers Curtis was able to hire for this project. 😂 Needles to say it’s great to see how a fellow machinist figures out how to get the job done even when not enough parts are provided.

A surprise video to be sure but a welcome one. Container shelters are awesome for all kinds of work for all trades. We’ve used one in line with a smoko hut container and on those 40+ degree days a shaded work area is a god send and being so close to an air conditioned ice box was fantastic. I can attest to these kits not coming with instruction manuals but with a quick KZread video they aren’t too bad to put up.

Kurtis, you need one of those wireless actuator for the sling to decouple it from the ground. Like the loggers use. Forget renting that little man lifter thing. You must’ve walked 110 miles and climbed 210 flights of stairs for this job! Lol ! EVERYTHING you do is top notch. You do things RIGHT… I respect that immensely. Cheers!

It's clear to see why you have been so successful with your business. You're a hard worker and when something needs to be done and done right, you don't make excuses and put it off. You roll up your sleeves and get after it. I have a lot of respect for you and you're work ethic. My hat is off to you sir. Great job and Karen, awesome job on the video and narration. What a good idea for a farm or ranch. I have worked on a few big building sites that had the exact same shelter-dome, in between 2 shipping containers, as the containers are often used as storage for the different trades on site, you would have the plumbers, the steel workers, the concreters etc. the electricians storage container would be "a mess" with all the gear thrown on the ground, the boxes and parts scattered everywhere, the shelves would be nearly empty. That was the "organized storage space for the sparks", you could only find the gear you needed, if you knew who hid the gear in the first place, shenanigans "on site", and a 3 or 4 hour job can take 8 or 9 hours, maybe more. Apart from building sites, there was the exact same dome shelter on Bondi Beach, the "drive-thru" bananas there were doing the Covid Testing, for a few years, apparently they were asking you for DETAILS, like NAME, ADDRESS, NEXT OF KIN, CAR LICENCE, CAR REGISTRATION, WORK DETAILS, WORK CONTACTS, BANK DETAILS, BANK PIN NUMBERS, BANK BALANCE, BLOOD TYPE, AND OTHER THINGS OF A PERSONAL NATURE. I'D RIDE PAST ON MY BIKE IN DISBELIEF. *Note: THE 2 CONTAINERS WITH 40X40 FT DOMED SHELTER....IS THE GO. FOR PROPERTIES, FARMS, AND RANCHES. THE CONTAINERS THEMSELVES ARE 40 FT, AND YOU COULD EVEN HAVE 3 CONTAINERS, 1 AT THE BACK, AND THE POSSIBLE "USES" ARE MANY, A MYRIAD OF USES, INCLUDING WORK-SHED, GYM, GUEST-HOUSE, STORAGE & STUDIO. LAY A CEMENT SLAB UNDER THE DOME. UP THERE FOR THINKING, DOWN THERE FOR DANCING.
