The new video is lacking teflon tape on the AFW43. Is teflon tape not necessary anymore?

@@user-lj8yq9vs8t Hi there! There should be an o-ring in the female connector of AFW43 so the plumber's tape is not necessary there. As for the male connector, it depends on if there's an o-ring in the female side of your water line. If there is no o-ring, then plumber's tape is necessary and you can get it here: www.123filter.com/ac/ispring-ptfe-industrial-sealant-tape?path=118_87. Great video but one change needed. For the feed water adapter (AFW43), these are compression type fittings with a rubber seal. Teflon tape should NOT be used on those threads. The rubber seals the connection, not the threaded connection. Only use teflon tape on the connections without a rubber seal.

Correction: On the drain saddle, the bolt faces away from the connection (opposite of what was done). The nuts fit into small recesses on the other side so they don't spin. Thanks for the video. Helpful.

This is sold not for human consumption but for aquariums or other clean purpose water. Not for drinking.

Excellent. Good volume, upbeat tempo and you use fast-forward effectively. The best of several RO videos I've seen. I think iSpring has a much older "How To" out there on KZread. People complained about volume. You should take that down.

This is a good "how to set up" as well as a refresher. However, if I understand correctly, Spring has adopted a new way of connecting the components to replace the threaded connectors. When you ship out replacement filters, you need to inform customers of the change. When I changed my filters (way past schedule) I saw the gunk the filters take out of my tap water. #1. I will never swallow another drop of tap water. #2. I will change filters at the recommended intervals from now on. This is a great product. The part about how to wrap the Teflon tape is very important. Clockwise.l Otherwise, you'll have massive leaks.

Great video so far! Although common sense can be made about this but before connecting the adapter, I would have suggested to turn off both water lines. Also, I just connected the red line to my system to flush and you didn’t mention anything and I started my water and the red line popped off and half my kitchen floor got sprayed with water. Wish you explained better for that part.

Vinh Nguyen is the tank always has to be pressurized? You use a air compressor to add air to it? What happens if I buy the osmosis system with the booster pump? Would I still need to add air?

Thank you for the video. I would recommend a different approach to install the drain saddle. Instead of attaching it first, then aligning the hole, I would suggest putting the black hose through it and inserting it into the drilled hole first, then carefully push the saddle piece against the pipe and finally attaching it with the screws

This worked for me. It's definitely easier. Also, cut the end of that pipe at a 45° angle to prevent it from blocking.

See yesterday when I finished setting up my system, it was working fine. I was able to flush my tank twice, and today I was gonna flush it one more time before using the water coming out of it but now the damn tank WILL NOT fill up. Yes, the main valve is on, the tank valve is open, and I do not know what the problem is. I think the automatic shutoff is malfunctioning

Just installed mine (7 stage UV). The hardest part was going back to put the Teflon tape on the threads of the cold water line (whoever did the plumbing initially didn’t bother with tape and it wasn’t leaking... so I didn’t think I needed it at that point. I needed it.). Just flushed the first 3 stages and am waiting my 15 minutes for the system to completely flush- that trickle is indeed very very slow), before I fill and then flush the tank... that is going to be a loooooong wait... but no leaks so far! I love quick connect! By the way, I bought the ice/fridge kit and it couldn’t have been easier to install. May upgrade the tank at some point...

If you have this system under the sink, how do you connect your fridge to the ice/fridge kit? Is your fridge on the same side as your sink? Or do you run the hose somewhere?

I drilled a hole in the side of my cabinet and ran a line to connect to my ice maker line… that said, this system catastrophically failed. One of the main compartments sprang a pinhole leak. I bought a simpler competitor model (waterdrop) that has front change twist cartridges that are much easier to change out. So much less hassle so far!

You should HAND-tighten the filter housings. Using the wrench will crack the housing if you use too much pressure tightening. Use the wrench to LOOSEN them when changing filters.

Part of the black water from the initial flush is from the Feed Water Adapter. Maybe grease or something from the seals. I've been testing each component for leaks as I install and noticed this. I recommend doing an initial flush of your cold water with the Feed Water Adapter installed so the grease / seal residue doesn't go into the RO / Stage filters

How often do you change the filters? And how expensive are they?

I've always read, heard, been told that Teflon Tape or pipe dope, should NOT be used on plastic fittings as the lubricity is not needed, and you run the risk of over torquing the fitting which can lead to cracks and then failure.

i just bought one are you on well water? how do you like it so far? how often to change filters?

You do not need to wrap teflon tape around the threads on the shut off valves under the sink. They have rubber gaskets to create the seal, the threads are there just to draw it tight to the rubber gasket. Similar to a garden hose, the rubber gasket makes the seal. Nonetheless, great vid.

Helpful video very clear should make the install much easier. One question, The Manual on Page 8 under Installing the Drain Saddle, Says it is recommended to be installed on a "Horizontal" pipe, yet this video and the pictures in the Manual both show installation on a vertical pipe .. before I drill a hole I just want to make sure this is NOT a misprint as I do have access to a Horizontal Drain pipe between a double Sink. Thanks

Hi there. Thank you for reaching out! You can install the drain saddle either on a horizontal or vertical pipe, but we recommend installing it on a horizontal one to minimize the dripping sound.

Excellent explanation. I will have to install mine at the basement wash tub since there is no room under the kitchen faucet and there's a granite countertop with no extra hole for a secondary faucet.

I have some kind of gray fitting at the housing. The red line pushes into it, but I don't see any way to secure it. There's nowhere for a blue clip like it shows in the video.

Hi there. Please, make sure to use as much as you need. We recommend 6-8 layers to create a good seal to avoid any leaks.

great video! I was going to by an RCC7 5 stage and just saw on amazon the RCC7ak 6 stage for the same price. What do you suggest I buy? Is the install the same with an RCC7ak 6 stage?

Hi there! The only difference between the RCC7 and the RCC7Ak is the AK. The Ak is one additional filter that adds some healthy minerals back into the water to improve taste. In my opinion, if you're looking a both for the same price go ahead buy the RCC7AK. It you don't want the additional filter you can simply remove it at any time to make your system the RCC7.

... I installed a 3M pre-sediment filter to my zero waste RO75 (7.5 pH) system which allows the filters to last a full year or more ...

Does the bracket support all of the filters when filled with water? I plan on mounting in garage on a wall, not under sink.Thanks

You can mount it on a wall as long as the wall is able to support the weight of the system since it can be pretty heavy when filled with water. For the drain saddle the instructions recommended installing it on a horizontal part of the pipe to eliminate dripping noise. I did this but not realized I am connected in after the p-trap and directly with the sewer. Should I correct this or is it fine?

I just set mine up using this very helpful tutorial. BUT Im very frustrated that I may have been given a broken / used system where I ordered a brand new one. Please suggest what I can do given below issues: 1. when I flushed the carbon filters I did not get any black water coming out... 2. When I was putting in the membrane filter there were water droplets in the chamber as if it is old and used! 3. The Alkaline filter stage is leaking!

Hi there. Regarding your issues: 1) It's ok if there's no black water coming out. It means that there is very little loose carbon in the system. 2) It doesn't mean that you received a used system. Our systems are pressure tested before shipping and since the housing is watertight it takes a long time to evaporate. Hey serious question. If disposal or dish washer are used will it backflow into ro drain? I think I’m going to get a check valve for the ro drain as well. Appreciate the advice.

Hi James McClaren, The RO System has both a flow restrictor and also a check valve on the system to prevent any back flow from the drain/waste water back into the system. That's a lot of tubes! Make sure you get an under sink cabinet mat from Xtreme Mats and a water sensor to prevent any water damage from the inevitable leak at ​@t.

I am just about to purchase this same system. I am wanting to run the same system to my refrigerator for water/ice. Can i just put a tee in the faucet line?

At the 4mjn 50sec mark you said leave off the hose that connects to the cap. When exactly do we connect it?
