Install Windows on a 2019/2020 MacBook without Boot Camp Assistant

Ғылым және технология

This video covers installing Windows 10 on a 2019 or 2020 model MacBook Air or Pro equiped with a T2 chip. The goal is to install Windows without using Boot Camp Assistant and still get everything functional.
In short, I'll go through the preparation like downloading drivers and creating USB drive for installation. Then we'll disable the T2 startup security and we'll repartition the disk for a dual boot installation. Next, we'll run through the installation, load drivers for the SSD and once installed, get the rest of the drivers in place.
All info discussed and shown in the video can be found well-documented on my blog, jensd.be, as well. For this video: jensd.be/1011/windows/install...

    I found that it was better to just install windows 10 via bootcamp, finish installing bootcamp windows support software, updating windows and then using disk manager which is built in windows to just delete the macos partition and other macos related partition. I am now left with just Windows 10 as a single os without any issues. Lastly, I used Paragon Partition Manager to extend Windows partition. This way everything was still functional including built in keyboard, trackpad and wifi + bluetooth.

Can I use an external SSD connected through USB to run only windows 7 or 10. What to do for bootcamp? can I download bootcamp from base OSX through internet recovery. Is there any other option for me so that I can run it for at least next 2 years.

  • @jensdbe

    @jensdbe

    3 жыл бұрын

    Formatting should be taking care of by the media creation tool. To be sure, you can always do the following: - start "diskpart" on Windows - type "list disk" and take note of the disk number your USB drive is - type "select disk X" where X is the number matching your USB drive - type "clean" - recreate a partition using diskmgmt or diskpart. Another option, if this really doesn't work is to use the tutorial from my latest video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/i5-qrs2LqLO6cpc.html This allows you to create the USB drive for Windows 10 installation from macOS. And if that still doesn't work... another USB drive or adapter (in case you're using one) will probably fix it.

    @@jvseen You can fix it, but you have to be very concentrated and copy some line cods in to your Terminal, In youtube there's some vids that give the manner to do it. but I will not do that soo i'll stay with MacOs until i get a new PC, I tried it one time but it didn't work, i think i did it wrong and The Graphic Card isn't really supported by Windows, i can't play games. it's laggy and full of wrong textures. trash, it's not worth and don't deserve that amount of money

    If you have an external keyboard, make sure it's one from Apple. It doesn't always work on a 3rd party brand. Also make sure you have selected "Show all devices" in Disk Utility and select the whole drive while erasing.

    That's because a MacBookAir10,1 is an M1-based Macbook. There is no BootCamp package for that machine nor is it (unfortunately) possible to install Windows natively on it (yet). There is another way though, using UTM. Did a video on that before: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fYmg06qmmb2yqbg.html

    In that case, you can delete all partitions once you are booting from the USB drive. Where you select where to install Windows (after loading the driver for the SSD).

    The method should work on most iMacs/macbooks/mac pro as long as they have a x86-based CPU (Core 2 Duo, i3/i5/i7 or Xeon). Obviously I can't test this with all models so if this works for you, it would be good to leave some feedback here for others.
