In this video, we will show you the steps to install TWRP Recovery on OnePlus 8/8 Pro/8T/9R. After that, we’ll show you how to root your device via Magisk and TWRP [rooting is completely optional and has nothing to do with the installation of TWRP. You could simply skip that section if you don’t want to root]. Finally, we will list out the steps to fix the corrupt recovery partition if something goes wrong during the flashing of TWRP.
NOTE: I have shown three methods to flash TWRP, the first two are shown at 11:03 and are generally not recommended [though it shouldn't lead to any issues, but still, why take a risk?]. Instead, you should use the Recommended Method shown at 13:09 [it's the tried and tested and fail-safe method].
Apart from that, here are some other important points that deserve your attention:
- Please take a backup of the stock recovery which is currently installed on your device [procedure is shown in the video].
- Downloading the TWRP IMG should do the job, there's no need to download the TWRP ZIP file.
- Always first temporarily boot your device to TWRP and if everything is working well and good, then only proceed ahead to permanently flash. Never ever directly flash it.
- If something goes wrong, then your device might get stuck in the Fastboot Mode. So in that case, simply flash the stock recovery, and your device will be up and running once again [procedure is shown in the video].
- Since OnePlus 8/8 Pro/8T/9R have a dedicated recovery partition, the entire process will be done on the recovery partition itself, we will not be interacting with the boot partition.
