    Just want to give you another big THANKS for all your vids. They are probably the clearest and well explained of all the ones I've browsed on Ytube. I'm (slowly) tackling this on an old Evo FXWG, and I don't know how many dollars you've probably saved me from a visit to the stealorship. Thanks again -

    Depending on the year model and trans. On 2000 to 2006 5 spd the gap is .100 - .125. The best advice I can give is refer to the shop manual for you're bike. Thanks for watching.

    Just did one myself, but there are vendors out there that make a better, wider bearing to replaced this system. Sometimes I think Harley engineers things so you have to take repairs to a shop or dealer.

    I agree, they definitely want you in their shop. But now a lot of the dealers won't work on bikes 10 years or older. I know Jim's makes a bearing to replace the race, but I haven't seen or heard how long they last. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching. Ride safe

    Hi Clark, I've never reused a inner race. Some of the races that I have removed that were used and installed by someone else all walked into the main gear. So I wouldn't recommend reusing one unless you don't mind replacing it in the future.

    If you are going to use the PVC pipe method, do you want to heat the race up?

  • @tinkeringwithharleys

    @tinkeringwithharleys

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the question, you can heat the race it helps slide it on but doesn't do much for the PVC pipe. What I used to do is take the old race drill it out so it slips over the shaft easily. Than heat the new race put the old race against it than the PVC pipe against the old race. Keeps the PVC from softening up. Thanks for watching.

    good vid but... DO NOT install this race assembly anymore. Use the race/bearing kit that installs in the inner primary instead. It's one unit and you don't have to worry about the inner race walking into the quad seal. Ride safe everybody.

    If you're going for the race and bearing separately you can get at any Harley dealer. If you're looking for the 1 piece race and bearing the only company I know of that makes it is Jim's. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching
