Very informative, especially for those who get intimidated with wiring, you showing which wires connect to what is appreciated.

I agree, this is an amazing product, and very reliable. I haven’t had any issues since I installed it.
Thank you very much for the tutorial. Just ordered my whole house fan, very happy to finally buy this thing because I know with certainty the electric company is raising their rates this year, we seen what the gas company did this past winter.

Awesome video! You thoroughly explained every step of the process. However, I do have a question. I’ll be installing two qc Tri-pro 3.3 fans 15’ to 20’ apart from each other. Which direction does the fan motors face?
Exactly what I needed!

Any thoughts on the proper amount of attic ventilation required? That is the main hold up on my own install. Thanks for the great video.
@NumberDZ
Жыл бұрын
As long as you have 1 or 2 vents you should be fine, the amount of air pushed in your attic by this fan is not enough to create positive pressure, even a small 1 foot by 8 inch vent should be fine.
Great 👍,. I was wondering if you could tell us or show us the advantages of this.. did your electric bill drastically change?
@NumberDZ
7 күн бұрын
Yes, my electric bill went down by a lot, I highly recommend it. Keep in mind that this is not helpful during those extreme hot months when it doesn't not cool down at night, you have to use your AC during those months, other than that this fan is amazing, I also turn it on when cooking, it help remove all the food smell.
great vdo. Do you have to install another fan in the attic to vent the hot air out?
@NumberDZ
Жыл бұрын
No, my attic has vents on the sides where the hot air goes out.
Great video. How big does the attic access hole have to be in order to bring the fan into the attic? Thanks
@NumberDZ

Mine is approximately 18"x24"
Back in the day this was called an attic fan. They were like 3-4’ in diameter and that sucker could pull some air through a house. Easiest way is get a couple of box fans and put them in an open window and block off the rest of opening and open up other windows. Might not get as much air flow but it works and a fraction of the cost.

@@NumberDZ on your attic where is the hot air being blown to? i don't see any attic vents going outside? I thought the concept is when the sun is down, you can suck in cold air outside from the house and push the hot air inside the house out?
looking into installing a whole house fan. your model is one I need. how much did you pay for stl pro 3.3x stealth and wireless rf hub and switch? thx for the video
@NumberDZ
Жыл бұрын
I paid $325 for the stl pro and $100 for the wireless switch. I work for a builder that’s why I got it for a heavily discounted price and they don’t sell this specific model to the public, only to contractors and builders.
With the amount of air blowing around, is there any issues with the blown in insulation getting stirred up and blown everywhere?
@NumberDZ
Жыл бұрын
No, the air flow is not directed towards the insulation, you have to direct it to an area of your attic away from the insulation. As you can see in the video, mine is throwing the air to the studs and an open area of the attic.
Where we're you able to buy the qc stl model? I can only find the classic models online and that's what you link to. I'm looking for the qc stl 5.5x
@NumberDZ

They don't sell these models to the public unfortunately, they sell these to contractors or builders, I work for a builder that's how I got it. But the other models work just fine.
Very informative. How did you buy a 'pro' model if you are just a homeowner? I want the pro but can only find classic and ES series for sale.

I have a QC ES-6000 and I can not get the duct off the fan to take the fan up to the attic. Even with the latch unhooked, there is not enough slack to pull the duct off the fan. Any ideas how to get the duct and fan to separate?

Is this cheaper to run then an AC unit? Also how does it cool down the rooms in the house
@NumberDZ
Жыл бұрын
Yes, it is way cheaper, but it is efficient only during the time of the year when it is cooler outside and warm inside of the house.
@lohengrinknight
Жыл бұрын
You run it around 8 pm or 6 am for an hour. You open the windows, so the fan can pull fresh air from outside. Then turn it off, close all windows and spend all day with the cool temperature that the fan left inside the house. at night time, repeat the same process again.
I cant do that where i live, when its cold i would get almost rain coming down from the roof tiles becourse og hot air meting cold air

How many vents do you need to have in the attic . If the fan is too strong and there are not many vents the heat will stay in the attic

I am afraid that it will blow my insulation around the attic. What do you think?
@NumberDZ

It won’t, as long as you don’t point it directly to the insulation, I had the same fear but it doesn’t blow it away.
Looks good but it looks like you need to upgrade your duct work bc it’s falling apart

Maybe a stupid question but is there a return?? Where is the hot air going?
@NumberDZ
7 күн бұрын
The hot air goes inside of the attic, then it gets pushed outside through the attic vents located on the side of the house/roof.
How does all that extra the air get out of the attic?
@NumberDZ
9 ай бұрын
Through the attic vents that are on the sides.
@primovid
9 ай бұрын
@@NumberDZ I think there are going to have to be calculations done to figure out how to accommodate the extra air. I don't have any soffit vents or roof vents at all--only have a couple screens on the two gables.
@NumberDZ
9 ай бұрын
In that case you will have to install a couple of vents.
How much did it drop the temp?
@NumberDZ
Жыл бұрын
Depends on the exterior temperature, if inside is 80 degrees and outside 69, the temperature drops to 69 in like 30 minutes.
I don’t get it, how would this work if it’s not exhausting the air completely outta attic? Wouldn’t the hot air in the attic seep back in into the house and circulate back instead of venting out?
@foodie5214
21 күн бұрын
During times where you would use the fan, the temp in your house is likely more desirable than the temp in your attic. You put air from your house into the attic, pushing air through the attic. Attics are vented so the air will flow.
@NumberDZ
7 күн бұрын
The attics have vents, all the extra air creates positive pressure in the attic and the air gets pushed out thought he vents.
can you install this with no attic access?
