@@dealzman Well a lot of companies thrive just because of Instagram and it's idea and community which is based around people more into fashion and beauty products. And also the art of photography lies at the core too. Comparing a serious problem with some tool and blaming on it, is not the right way to go. Surely Instagram has a bad side but a lot of people have found their loved ones on the platform too. Lots of things wouldn't have happened without Instagram.

Kevin is my favourite Tech CEO! Incredible insight on very difficult social issues as always. Every social media service is having to make a choice whether to encourage more ads and keep the top line and P&L's growing, or ban all ads that people say are true from "their perspective" but are not widely excepted as true. How in the world are you supposed to do that "at scale" on millions of ads? Fact checking every single ad request would be arduous and inevitably people will get pissed off and complain about "censorship" if you block their ad that they think is true and completely disagree with your rationale for not approving it. Especially hard when you have millions entities looking to pay you for ads they think is true and is impossible to confirm! Are we going to open FBI-like investigations on everybody to decide on what gets promoted on the internet?

@@dealzman But Aditya, isn't it true? All internet have to deal with positives & negative effects like for these social media & content consumption platforms (freedom of self-expression, identity & speech is a positive while passive content consumption, time well spent, etc are the negatives). What do you think he was wrong about?

Breaking up big tech will severely handicap the United States ability to grow in comparison to rival nations. If we want to continue to lead the world in tech (our lead has already shrunken severely) and innovate or create impactful new products/systems, we must empower our companies to build such a cash cushion so that they won't fear taking risks that could yield the next thing. Extremely large companies such as Amazon and Google are already in position to pay more in taxes so that a decent amount of wealth can be redistributed to citizens via a Andrew Yang-esque monthly UBI. The government can place restrictions on how citizens can spend the UBI so that most if not all of the UBI is funneled back to the government or US economy,. Maybe I'm overly optimistic.

Khari Conception what is with the American obsession with “leading the world?” It’s almost like the government has shoved it down the masses throat so hard that it’s ingrained into our minds as something we can’t exist without.

Ali Dimas Great question . I’m not going to pretend to have a “marvelous” answer to that question. Being that I live in the US, if “God” asked me who I would like to “lead” the world, then I would quite naturally choose the country that birthed me. Still, I’m not anti other countries with respect to growth and success.
