After watching a slew of RTT videos I went with one of these to put on my Subaru Forester Wilderness. I'm a "light" over lander who will go out maybe a dozen times a year so I didn't need anything heavy duty so to speak, plus I wanted something very light as it will be left on the Subie year round.
Bought mine during the sale. I'm happy with the purchase, and customer service.

How much did you pay?
It sucks how prices gave gone up so high in so little time
good thing you checked to make sure it wasn't damaged cuz i see an xpo pro sticker on there, and having worked there, there was a greater than 70 percent chance it would have been punctured through by a forklift. so you're lucky but also good call lol. I can say that, i used to work there

Hi Sean, Please contact us. We would like to know your story and reasoning behind the XPO 70% chance of damage. Thank you.

@@inspiredoverland it's basically cuz I used to be a driver/ dock worker at the Denver terminal. I once went out on a route with 8 stops and had to take 7 damage exceptions. Their dock gets so blown out they have to double stack freight sometimes. It can be a total mess

I saw another one where someone mentioned people talking about drilling angled holes for the awning pole bit

Seems like a small adjustment that would make a big difference. Hopefully the next version will have it.

@@BluegrassOverland So I havent gotten mine yet. I hope to soon after I get some mechanical work done to my 4runner. So I have seen people drill the holes and that kinda works. I saw guy take a wood dowel and drill holes in it for those poles to go through at the top near the canvas and it pulls it tight. I also saw another guy who said if its not windy or snow you can use the telescoping support poles towards the front and use them on the canvas and adjust the angle of it even for better view. Also I have thought I would get rid of the bungee cord for the inside storage and either glue it or command strip the storage compartments to the top Hope one those methods helps you out in some way. Have you been out for a good trip in it yet?

Just bought mine yesterday in BC Canada and the price was $1250 CAD which is a screaming deal for local pickup. So around 860 USD!!

Whats the name of the shop you bought it in BC?
Still $999.00, but no free shipping. :(
I'm interested in the mount location. Any reason you wanted to place it more over the cab? I have a CX Classic shell from ARE(not the reinforced version) on my tacoma, double cab short bed. I've had mixed feelings about getting an RTT and putting it onto the shell the a prinsu or frontrunner rack system when it comes to dynamic/static weight. Since this RTT is longer than the shell, I was thinking about trying to mount it partially on the cab to relieve some of the weight from the shell. Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Mounting the tent to the camper shell is best practice. The bed was designed to handle the weight more so than the cab. However, my topper is old and I don’t trust it to hold the weight. With that being said, a tent should be mounted to the shell OR the cab. Not both. The bed flexes and twists differently than the cab on purpose. Could you mount it on both and get away with it? Probably. Just be aware it will introduce a lot of stress to your mounting hardware

Thank you for the reply. I don’t know why I didn’t think about how the bed flexes independently from the cab; the shell it is! With some bed stiffeners.

@@caseyquinn4598 sounds good brother. I installed total chaos bed stiffeners a couple years ago, haven’t really noticed any difference. But it’s piece of mind I guess. Best of luck with the build
Do the telescopic poles pivot to support the Canvas?

Bowling Green area. There’s certainly more wheeling to do in your neck of the woods. Believe it or not Sams Club has some cool Kentucky shirts
