Inspector Wexford - An Unwanted Woman
Ойын-сауық
From the VHS cover:
Among the senior citizens of quiet Kingsmarkham, these apple-faced kindly country folk, the world of passion and desires is not yet dim. Did septuagenarians Mr. and Mrs. Betts murder their unbearable old mother Ivy Wrangton, to inherit her house? Gossip among the Castle Road post office ladies says that when Mrs. Wrangton 'died' there would be no inquest; yet Elsie Parrish, Mrs. Wrangton's best friend, who also got a little something in her will, won't hear of any foul play.
The Case at first seems as innocuous as the suicide of childless Ann Waterton, an old lady befriended by lonely mixed-up teenager, Sophie Grant.
What can be the dark side of this sweet story?

I also like that time is taken to tell a good story. It's the scenic route not the express train. You have time to absorb the plot.
Love hearing the blackbirds in the outdoors scenes❤
What a lot of wonderful old actors got a job in this episode!
Thank you so much for uploading these. I loved the original Rendell whodunits, and I love these TV adaptations too. George Baker made a perfect Wexford!
That slice of ordinary life with it's troubles and all the age groups and modest incomes. The strong structure of a troubled teenager who is actually a good student and responsible - we don't see enough of those, or their concerns are trivialised and reduced to problems between peers. Most teenager troubles are actually to do with the adults around them. Great viewing.

I was admiring the job the crew did with that character! The casting was great, she’s a great actor in the role. They also dressed her perfectly for what kind of person she was supposed to be. But seriously the people who dressed the set of her room were PERFECT. I totally knew that teenager from seeing her room; it told the whole story of who she was & what she cared about. The craft on display in the series is such a treat & they know how to serve the story & characters.

Wexford was my favourite tv programme in the nineties, I'm very glad and happy that you've put these up Paul. Thank you so much. We're on our 5th episode now, 'An Unwanted Woman.' I and some friends from Gosport went inside the castle. Even the bare rooms evoked the wonderful sense of history associated with that incredible edifice. I also kicked the football around with my Gosport friends right beside the ancient castle wall. His two seven and eight year old sons ran circles around me. Good times, those.

Few years ago in San Diego, California , w a d picked up by an ambulance team of a woman an 2 men. She introduced them all to me prior to the ride. They were unusually friendly. Like no one is normally. That was a memorable surprise. Doubt other ambulance persons are like that. Here, nowadays, clearly customer service is neither taught or part of the job with businesses.
I've never watched any others of this series, and I'm only 20 minutes into this one; however, it's a police procedural with an emphasis on interpersonal relationships, and a couple of Good Old Boys, British style. I would imagine people who are interested in relationship stories would find it most interesting (as opposed to, say those who look for a mystery to be solved).
