Inspector Gadget Origins - This Insanely Powerful Flawed Superhero Is Lovable And Dangerous!

Ойын-сауық

Colorful 80’s catered to cartoons like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Transformers. They had a major influence on television producing nostalgic brands that are still spawning reboots and sequels today. Most '80s cartoons starred heroic main protagonists who fought against legions of villains like as the Foot clan or the Decepticons, teaching their audiences great lessons about the nature of good and evil. Today we bring to you a fantastic cartoon character from the 80’s for you guys to take a look at.
Andy Heyward, Jean Chalopin, and Bruno Bianchi co-created the animated science-fiction comedy tv show Inspector Gadget in the mid-1980s. The series, which debuted on September 12, 1983, features the voice of Don Adams as the title character. It was the first-ever animated series to be broadcast in stereo. The show initially aired 86 episodes spanning two seasons from 1983 to 1986. The plot revolves around the adventures of Inspector Gadget, a clumsy, dim-witted detective who is a cyborg human with numerous bionic gadgets built into his body and is sent on quests to foil plans by his archenemy Dr. Claw, the leader of an evil organization known as "M.A.D." and is unknowingly aided by his niece Penny and their dog, Brain. It was a super popular 80’s cartoon and it was also a welcome change from all the action and superhero cartoons that were popular during the time.

People may knock him, but French Stewart was not a bad Gadget, he was leagues better than Broderick (who if he hadn’t committed vehicular homicide, Inspector Gadget probably would have been the most horrible thing he’d be remembered for) in the direct to video sequel which if they had managed to get rid of the horrible gadget mobile it would have actually been a completely enjoyable movie. But I agree if we had Kramer instead of Ferris Bueller it could have actually been a hell of a movie instead of a “what the hell?” Movie

Another fun fact that people don’t often remember Heathcliff and the Cadillac Cat’s (the 3rd time Heathcliff got a series) featured Gadget as a background character, often on TV sets in the Cat’s universe. Also in one instance the Cadillac Cats made a cameo in an alley on Inspector Gadget.

Captain Cape-man was, just MY opinion unnecessary and endlessly annoying, both to Penny and Brain, AND the viewers. Side note: Why would everyone think that Inspector Gadget was SO good at his job, if he never was!? I think, at some time, he WAS a competent and effective police agent, but, something went wrong during surgery to implant his cybernetics. This affected his mind, memories, AND, personality, to the point it is when we first meet him! Penny and Brain, have been the ONLY ones to notice this, and, since Brain, at least, has come along on some of Gadget's prior missions, you'd think he'd notice and recognize him despite him being in disguise, but, he doesn't, giving further credence to my theory he's not in optimum condition! This also gives a reason why, on occasion, Gadget's technology sometimes goes berserk, it doesn't recognize his mental OR oral commands.i

He would also voice the character of Gadget Boy for that perspective series and it’s specials. He however was long done by the time Gadget and the Gagetinis came out. He would however do a cameo for the movie voicing Brain in the credits (about the only good thing in that whole train wreck of my childhood)

But one of my theories is that chief was working secretly with gadget's niece penny, and gave her instructions to help her uncle because he wasn't qualified for this dangerous job that much! And the computer book was probably given to her from the police force to track down gadget if he was in trouble and stuff, having also the authority to use it as she pleased with the tech that had inside! After his accident his brain didn't worked that well with his body as it seems! 😆

Even the live action movies where somewhat enjoyable (Side note: I'm usually not a fan of making Live Action shows or movies about worlds and characters that originated in comics, cartoons or video games). I do hope it'll get a third sequal series some time in the future. Despite initial worries I've ended up enjoying both "Gadget and the Gadgetinis" and the 2015 animated show quite a lot (proving once again that one shouldn't judge a show without having seen it).

There's a lot of missed opportunities with inspector gadget. He could be coming to grips with the fact that he's just not human anymore. There's body horror elements already embedded in his character, on top of that his task force has to live with the fact that basically a corpse of their old friend is walking around without his memories, operating at half of the mental capacity that the original Augustine Tamare used to have. There is an opportunity to have a very compelling story about what it means to actually be a human being, the indomitable human spirit, and even stories about the horror of Inspector gadget's entire situation, but it's never been fully realized.

And what's so endearing is Penny doesn't act like a bitch about it she doesn't mind her uncle getting all the credit she knows how he is & he does everything he can to keep her safe. Yeah he wasn't smart in the point to solve the case but i liked his character and how funny he was.The 2018 series i think was a continuation and not a remake because the series stating having gadget trapping dr claw in an iceberg and thus defeating him! From there claw used also his nephew to help him in the episodes. Was pretty cool but not reaching the standards of the classic! Also i do remember an episode from the original series that shows how he became like that.Mad agends left a bomb in his yard while he was taking a rest i think! Not by a banana pill and stuff! Not sure if its official but you can take a peek of dr claw's face on an snes game, and an action figure which depicts him as a grey hair and mustache classic evil dr etc! For me claw never showed his face in the series thus i believe that in the game & toy this might not be acurate at all!

I like the fan theory that Penny and Brain built Inspector Gadget to replace the real one when he died. However he didn't really die, but got disfigured and went insane, becoming Dr Claw. Which is why Claw is not only intent on destroying the Gadget replica, but also doesn't hurt Penny.

I could never figure out if he was a robot or a dude with gadgets. I kind of considered it Get Smart! The Animated Series…cause I’m old. I think there is a little bit of Maxwell Smart ( who was co created by Mel Brooks)

I remember this cartoon from the eighties, and it was funny, and I:(unfortunately), have that live action film based on this character on vhs tape too🤦🏻‍♂️🙄, and there is a guy I went to school with who believed that Dr. Claw’s face looked like the MAD Organization logo, yet that was his theory at that time.

I was hoping he would hit on theories about why Chief Quimby always handed Gadget a self destruction letter and he would end up taking the punch of said letter.

Good thesis on the show, "Inspector Gadget", but, he seems to have a tendency to repeat certain bits of information, a bit too much.

Let me put it this way. the way inspector gadget was in the pilot episode versus. the rest of this series I'd have say is like night day Let me put it this way. OK, in the pilot, it seems like he kinda knows what he's doing. but the rest of the series. he doesn't have a clue. And yeah, he's supposed to be a really famous detective. No, he is not. However, here's something I didn't know before that I found out. And I'm kinda wondering why didn't think of this before. I'm thinking maybe the reason why he doesn't get hurt is being hurt is because either one he's extremely lucky. Or two. The rest of the world really doesn't know that he has no idea what he's doing. And by the way, I forgot to mention this. There are. three versions of the pilot episode. 1. is the Jesse White version. Two is the Gary Owens version. And three. is using the voice that most people associate with inspector gadget. Yeah. but ironically, but Jesse White version has never been heard. At least not to my knowledge. That's my guess. What do you think?

Are we absolutely sure Dr Claw wasn't voiced by retired professional wrestler Ole Anderson? Lol cause the voice over he did for the debut of The Shock Master back in the early 90s in WCW sounds hilariously similar lol

I think this franchise this is another shot at the big screen no not a lot of action one or Disney maybe Sony your DreamWorks just start fresh how he got into the garden or not make it family friendly but still serious enough to get people attention and even critics saying it's good it deserves a lot more attention than than it got especially nowadays I know that there was a 2015 reboot of the cartoon and I never saw it but still I think a good film turn people around on the character a lot more especially after the disaster of Matthew Broderick portrayal of inspector gadget we love him he's a good actor but I don't think he's actually chocolate good enough.

I much prefer the animated series. Inspector Gadget was a double slam of both Peter Sellers’ Inspector Jacques Cousteau from the Pink Panther films and Don Adams’ Maxwell Smart. It also had a running gag on Mission: IMPOSSIBLE’s self destruct tape, usually with Gadget’s Chief getting the worst of it. And Dr. Claw was a double wink to both the live action Doctor No and SPECTRE’s Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
