Mike visits United Diesel to service his Mercedes 300 TD's mechanical diesel fuel pump and find out what's causing the car's low fuel problem. Later, Ant gets the engine up and running again by adjusting the car's valve openings.

    I own a 300 SD turbo diesel 1983. My most favorite car! I have performed all kinds of maintenance. I bet I have over 300,000 miles the car. I had to replace the plastic gears in the odometer. So don't no actual millage. But still gets 23 mpg! Bought the car with factory rebuilt transmission! This car is a bullet proof tank on wheels. Many parts I have acquired from LKQ junkyards here in Texas. And online mail order parts houses! Car is easy to work on. If you turn the key and engine starts, your going anywhere you want to! By far the best engine Mercedes has ever made and engineered! I will never sale this car!

    Pump shops are disappearing here in Australia,as people retire and much of the common rail gear is throw away, nice to see a old school shop

    This saved my 300sd. I had to clean all my delivery valves as they were all rusted and now my car idles perfect.

    It's nice to see that the fuel delivery from each individual cylinder is correct and within the specified tolerance. But i think its equally important also to check to make sure that the governor is functioning correctly in accordance with the correct test specifications. All the best. cheers!!!

    address/contact point for United Diesel? (do they have Monark Injectors? or do they offer rebuilts for sale?) Aslo, how much horesepower is needed to turn Injector pump @200RPM?

    engine swap from w210 300td to w140 300td?? w140 300td om606.961 ran without oil due to leak and stalled in motion so can i get the same 300td om606.962 w210 engine that says identical . What would be different!? Will there be problems with installation, bushings, pipes for burnt gas, etc.

    Those pumps are the base reason for AMG to even appear, it was made those road tankers feel sporty. Just let them spit fuel and the cars will go.

    The revs of my engine when u in the last gear don't match l can hardly reach 90 km an hour and if l do so the revs will be very high u will think the engine will blow up and it loses power.what might be the problem please help the engine is a 300d, this engine is in my truck and it is supposed to reach it's top speed 140km an hour without the revs going very high.

    Ah yes, my '87 300D had the injector pump internal cam shaft bearing (see 0:23) completely fell apart spewing ball bearings, blasting out the side of the injector pump. Thanks Mercedes! Worst car I ever owned. I put in a used injector pump from a junker to get the car running and out of my life.
