One of the best composers in metal history is also a great scientist, how much awesomeness can a person have? Aside that, is not every band that make the decision of, not only maintain the member without the time to be 100% focused, but make the "sub" a new member. Thats a great act of a great band such as you guys. Vanhala, Dr. Friman and Janii feels like a dream team.

Honestly it is hurting me not seeing him on tours. Core member of the band who has injected the pure Insomnium DNA sound their albums. I am very happy that he still contributes in the band and i wish him all the best in his life. Ville Friman you are an exceptional and inspirational human being. Thank you.

i'm so glad you chose to stick together as a band, no matter your professional paths and hardships of life getting in the way. You all have brilliant academic paths, high level education and very respectable jobs, and still manage to make insomnium work, that's all but incredible, and inspiring - for someone who is also pursuing an academic title. By the way, evolutionary biology topics like the dynamics of antimicrobial resistance are extremely cool, and some of those understandings could save millions in the next decades! I guess there is enough material for an EP :)

Very nice. I am a master student of biology and I would have been so stunned if we randomly met on a scientific convention. Like a true wtf moment :D

I got yooked when I heard VANNI the 1st time. He is such a genius. Nothing against Markus. I love Omnium Gatherum to. Tho VANNI has his own sound and I love it!

We miss you, Ville! When Insomnium played in Oulu last year, I took a sign saying "FRIMAN IKUISESTI SYDÄMISSÄMME" (Vanhala saw it and laughed)

Mr. Friman is my idol when it comes to song writing. I would love to see him involved more but I also totally understand his academic life (he actually stated this years ago as I recall), on the other hand I'm not complaining at all because it seems this works for the band and I'm happy about it. You guys are my life saver for a long time, please keep on what you are doing...

He is one of the best musician of Insonmium and stil member thx for all

The good old times with the two Villes! I was at two small gigs in munich back then, first row. After the concert the band joined the fans and we talked a little bit. Great people, great band, great music!

We love you... And thanks again for the great show you played in Istanbul, just last month. We will miss you and wish you best luck for the science. I am proud of you are a Microbiologist just like my gf. yeah we are big fan of you and were in the recent show in Istanbul.

Honestly, i think Insomnium’s music was much better when Ville was the main composer in the band. As Markus Vanhala’s and later on Jari’s influence on the band’s music got stronger, the music became much more boring and generic. I understand Ville’s decision to make science his first priority, but as a fan I’m not satisfied with the material produced after Winter’s Gate.
