When they debuted, the youngest was Shuhua at 18 (International age). The group has a new sound almost every comeback, though the albums themselves are also often really diverse. Soyeon said that they were offered a single for their debut by Cube - though they had to wait ages for it. She said that when she heard the song, though, she knew that if they debuted with that single, it would be over for them. So she wrote the EP. Soyeon has come up with the concepts, written and produced almost everything. She also comes up with the concepts for their MVs and is involved in everything down to costume, nail, and hair design. Soyeon originally came up with the name for the group when she did her solo song "Idle song". She wanted to call them idle, but Cube didn't like it because it means lazy, so they changed it to (g)i-dle. In the early days in Korea, they would call themselves "yeoja idle" (girl idle). Now they tend to call themselves just "idle". Outside Korea, especially in English- speaking countries, they still tend to call themselves "G-idle". Most fans are fine with either. You mentioned CLC - Soyeon wrote "No" for them. For their first few songs they had to do their own choreography and still sometimes fight for their own ideas on choreography. Last year there were a lot of jokes from them that their least favourite song, "Senorita," was the only one they didn't have to fight with Cube over. In terms of b-sides, they certainly get better as time goes on, although i love most of them. It might be worth listening to them as you go so you can experience the growth. The only one i would say is mandatory before an MV is "Hann (alone in winter)" as it is the middle one in a trilogy - "Hann (alone)", "Hann (alone in winter)", "Hwaa". They actually song them together on killing voice.

I believe soyeon and soojin had a part in making the choreo along side their choreographers I think hui mentioned that once during a weekly idol episode

its okay if their song is not your type, its happen to me too on my first listen. I'm become neverland and start my deep dive into them because of variety show, not because of their songs😂. But after into them, their songs start get into me and im really appreciate how soyeon working hard for every comeback. Like they deserve more as selfmade group. They inspired me a lot not only from their song, their personally, their mindset, their hardwork. thats what i love about them. BTW!! The most important thing is SOOJIN IS BACK😭😭. She gonna release her solo on 8th NOV!! ❤❤

I think fans want the whole group to move to another company however Soyeon seems to openly like cube might be because of the creative freedoms, but in variety content yuqi and Shuhua seem more openly ready to leave. In 2022 they had their first in person world tour (2020 they were going to do the first world tour but had to do an online version) they complained that while practicing for the tour the room they were in didn't have working AC or a working frig which still wasn't working when filming. So not sure 100% what they'll do as a group when their contract ends. People were really hoping they would join pnation because Soyeon had been spotted with their business card in her phone case at one point but after hearing Jessi and Hyuna's experience about psy being super controlling in a creative sense I really wouldn't want to see Soyeon having to fight with psy over the creative direction of the group. They still have like 2 years with Cube so we shall see. Gidle is the first and only group Cube has had that has sold 1 mil copies of 1 album.(i feel-queencard album) So some fans feel like gidle basically own cube. The way Shuhua and Yuqi talk to the ceo is pretty funny too. But the girls dont shy away from expressing Cube isnt the best company. But Cube really isn't some great company because they debuted a group after gilde called lightsum who went on hiatus for like a year or 2 after only 3 or 4 title tracks then 2 members left that group without any reason explained thankfully the group is promoting right now. Also idk what the rules are in cube but Sorn from clc mentioned they tired writing songs many times and asked to keep their girl crush imagine but always got pushed down so gidle really is lucky to have as much control as they do over their work because the company doesn't treat their their girl groups well based on their history.

Gosh, Cube really sounds like trash. I can definitely understand Soyeon wanting to stay to enjoy her creative freedom and stay where the group's imagine and sound is up to the group. Well, one good thing is it's happening more and more that members are signing with other companies but remaining part of their groups. Hopefully, if it ever gets too bad for members who do want to leave Cube in the future, this can be an option.

@@DreamiesLonelyDreamer I personally think that (G)I-dle leaving cube would probably be a mistake except if they can reach an agreement with Hybe or one of the big 3 companies giving them the same freedom as artists because those companies would give them more visibility. The main reason for them to leave cube would be to reunite with Soojin probably because the company probably won't take the risk to take her bac into the group if there's a risk for (G)I-dle image to be tarnished. Otherwise in a reality show Yuqi also said that she wanted to try new things in the company that would give her more responsabilities so I'm not so sure about them wanting to leave cube. It's sometimes like a love/hate relationships but it seems that they have a very dedicated team around them that help them to achieve their goal. I personally wouldn't be surprised to see them renew their contracts.
