You will notice when the arresting wire breaks before stopping the E-2 and as it dribbles off the end of the deck, the gear is down, but as it comes back up above the deck the gear is retracted. Naval Aviators are trained to retract the gear as soon as you clear the edge of the deck, whether it be on a cat shot, bolter or broken cable. You will never see a Navy aircraft climb out with the gear still hanging down, even if we take off from a runway on land. Once you are in the air, the gear is not longer effective and only serves as excessive drag on the aerodynamics of the aircraft. Naval Aviators are also trained about the back side of the power curve, where it takes more power to go slower. This is due to the angle of attack. You keep the nose down and at full power the plane will climb on it's own. That's not to say that situation is not hairy as it is, but that's when the training kicks in.

As a Naval Aviator with 1500 hours flying E-2A'S and Bs, I can say that the dome no longer raises or lowers. That provision went away with the E-2C.

pretty sure its based on the -800 based on the length but looks like they tried to give it 777 wingliets for some effficiency.. fun fact though, early models -800 didn't have winglets either

Ever watched a video of a cars wheel? Sometimes it appears to spin backwards, correct? The lense on a camera can't pick up all of the movement, so instead a propeller or wheel blade will be appear in a spot as will the others as it spins so quickly. Making it seem as if it's 1 rather than very many at that location in such a short time that it shows as 1 rather than very very many.

The plane must provide a large dead spot to the radar. I’m guessing they fly arcs or circles to incline the wings out of the way.

Nope. The radar fan beam is not obstructed by the aircraft. It not only paints airborne targets, but also ships on the ocean's surface out to the radar horizon.
