@@RedBullSurfing just my opinion but i didnt rate it. reason being that it didnt really seem to have a purpose, subject matter or focal point. Just bits a pieces filmed over the event and thrown together that really said nothing, let alone of worth or offered any insight to the comp, locals, location or competitors. maybe i missed the point of it all and if so i apologies for my negativity and i just guess personally that this isnt the type of mateial that appeals to me. aloha from torquay

Love the "Brotherhood" of surf'n. Everyone wants everyone to be successful, Herbie Fletcher is still "stoked" and the locals speak'n "pigeon" thus we have subtitles .... too Good. Surf'n and the "lifestyle" is the Best .... be kind in the water to Your Brother.

I don't know how to explain it but there seemed to be some real pain and darkness in the face of that Paishon guy. And in general his whole crew, including Rothman, had such subtly heavy energy, like people that have seen some shit in their life and went through the route of violence and assertiveness rather than vulnerability and compassion. It was so noticeable that it made for compelling if uncomfortable viewing. Such contrast with what most of us associate with surfing i wonder if anyone felt that way or has some background on the dark side of surfing in Hawaii

Interesting insights Sandro. Another perspective to consider is that the local kids feel a lot of pressure when it comes to the big contests on the North Shore. Every year, their sleepy community is bombarded by visiting pros, aspiring pros, and every surfer in-between, so the competitive level in the water is more intense than anywhere else on Earth. The local kids who themselves are pros want more than anything to show the visiting pros how it's done in the water, especially at waves like Pipe. And, next to the Pipe Masters, the Volcom Pipe Pro is considered the ultimate prize. There have been lots of great magazine stories written about North Shore surf culture, which you should check out!

dude where have you been?! lol, the 'youth against establishment' became 'the establishment' nearly 10 years ago when it was purchased by PPR whose umbrella contained gucci and YSL among others. its been sold again only this month to ABG whose umbrella contains brands like Michael Jackson, Nautica, Aéropostale, Juicy Couture, Airwalk, Vision, Tapout, Above The Rim, Marylin Monroe etc......looks like a fucking graveyard of brands!
