I think the more I learn about the Mason´s the more I am convinced that they are what we historically know as the Knights Templars. When the church disbanded them they decided to continue in another form. When I was travelling around central Portugal and seeing Templar symbolism, many of them were very similar to Freemason symbols. Just my thoughts

I think I agree with you. I live in a city that has tons of Masonic symbols on old buildings and to this day I always get this ominous feeling when I go around them. The knights Templar era fascinated me in high school and it would make perfect sense to hide in plain site as a “secret society” and recruit as many as possible.

Simply to protect themselves from morons who cannot think for themselves... and who knows.. some of the morons could be their bosses! It's not unknown for men to be attacked for being Freemasons and some Masons think they wish to do without the hassle. However, most men, myself included don't give a damn what others think. So many speculate and pontificate about Freemasonry when they know nothing. Adam the Freemason. Well I don’t pretend to be an expert on freemasonry since I’m not one, but I’ll say this to you as a Christian from Christian to Christian. I have no idea what to think about the conspiracy theories surrounding the Freemasons, but if you ever feel that you are asked to do something that goes against the word of God, then don’t be afraid to call on Jesus instead. By the way, google officially says that Freemasonry began in 1717, and if Jesus was actually a Freemason I’m confident it would’ve been mentioned in the Bible. I don’t believe that there’s some secret society out there to rule the world or anything like that, but I do care for peoples relationship with Christ. Just be careful.

Actually, after graduating from college, my parents and I visited Iran, Turkey, and most Western European countries and Scandinavia. We moved to California from the Philippines in 1984 and am now retired. My late father was a US Army officer and fought the Japanese in WW2 and was also in service in Vietnam. @jimbology7617 Necroing an old comment but that is actually okay for 2 reasons. 1) The stipulation is that the newcomer believes in some kind of supreme being or power, regardless of whatever form that being takes for them. Even if you do not know what form that being takes, it is acceptable so long as you believe in some kind of higher power. You could even say that the laws of the universe itself and its orderly structure is inherently divine and we may not know what that divinity is. Because of this, freemasonry is agnostic. Bibles are commonly placed on altars as centerpieces but any kind of scripture may be used depending on the lodge; so long as *some* kind of holy scripture is present. You could even have a lodge with Buddhist texts and mantras as scripture if the majority of masons present are Buddhist. 2) Religion is strictly prohibited from lodge talks. When petitioning, you will simply be asked if you believe in *some* kind of supreme being and you will answer "yes" or "no". That is the end of the discussion. So, if you believe in Sol Invictus or even the universe itself as your supreme being of choice, you can say "yes" and leave it at that. You could even say yes if you believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster; no mason will ask you about your beliefs and/or judge you.

If you have Masonic brothers who are Jews, Christian's, Muslims and Hindus, then WHAT type of "religion" could it possibly be, not all "doctrines" of religion are compatible with each other, because a "religion" is a "way of life" to some very religious people such as Muslims. Freemasonry is NOT a religion, it offers NO SALVATION of any kind, it has NO DOCTRINE, it has NO religious BOOK of its own, it has NO separate masonic god. Freemasonry is based round the building of King Solomon's Temple, in Jerusalem.

@@teecee1567 Do Masons actually learn esoteric teachings and mysticism in the lodge? I’d like to join, but from what I gather from others is most Masons don’t care about any of the mysteries taught from older masons as Manly Hall and George W. Carey. Most seem to have joined for financial reasons and connections instead of the ancient mysteries and what would be considered the great work.

So does that apply to members of a religion? I don't kow any Masons who gave up their minds.

@@vaultvizion Not a Mason, but my father was a 32nd Degree Mason and while I never asked him that specific, I suspect that just as some members of any given religion are lax and belong to a church mostly for social reasons, there are those who are fervent belieing people. I would imagine that that holds true for Masons.
