The Broncos didn't even let the panthers tie up the game so they had the lead the whole time like super bowl 48. This one is a back and forth game.

Probably should've run a similar play at the end of the game (instead of that quick slant). Worse case probably would've been an incompletion rather than an interception.

Brandon Daniels The play was perfect for the situation. Butler just wanted the ball more than Lockett. A fade or a bootleg probably would've been the last play if Lynch didn't get in the end zone

At the time, I was thinking the exact same thing. However, their success rate with running the ball in short yardage goal line situations was surprisingly pretty low on the season. If I remember the stats correctly, it was far less than a 50/50 shot which is odd given how "beasty" Lynch seemed all year. Both the Pats and the Seahawks were aware that a run was far from a guarantee, which is why the Pats specifically practiced against that slant pass play in the week leading up to the game. Both coaches were in agreement that if a second down run was stopped, then they would've had to have thrown the ball on 3rd and/or 4th down. Belichick claimed that the mistake Carroll actually made was incorrectly assuming that the Pats were in their "goal line (run stopping)" defense which wasn't the case. As Belichick pointed out, "We were prepared for anything (on that play)." In other words, Carroll thought he could sneak one by Belichick and simply got caught in the act. If they ran the ball, Belichick was still prepared to stop them. And, while there was no guarantee of success on either side of the ball -- given the season stats -- the odds were somewhat in Belichick's favor to stop the run.

To everyone that thinks Butler is a one hit wonder and doesn't have what it takes to be a good CB.. Look at 10:15 after he just made a great play and it still ended up in Kearse's hands. That's what great players do. They keep coming back !! I have faith in Butler. This won't be the last time we hear from him when it comes to making big plays. That Brady celebration with Minitron and Scrap. That was beautiful. A 6th round QB, 7th round QB that wasn't even invited to the combine and undrafted free agent rookie making the biggest plays on the biggest stage. Gotta love that ! *I Love My Patriots*

Actually the balls weren't really deflated. One was deflated a lot, but the rest were deflated less than half of 1 single psi.

Brady is the only player in the roster on the Patriots who experienced the 2001 and 2003 SuperBowl.

Miller2h41 not really.... russel wilson takes less hits then Brady. most great Qbs play for at least a decade. even Mick Vick has played that long and hes always getting hurt. its different for QBs because they really only need their upper body and unlike line men dont get rolled up on by RBs or fellow linemen.

This was the best Super Bowl ever seen in life .

This was the first football game I've ever watched. I still remember all the hype and controversy and this game definitely lived up to it. I saw bits and pieces of super bowl 48 but I wasn't fully interested yet.

johnstjohn1987 Wilson has only been in the league since 2012. He has already been to 2 Superbowl's, and won 1. He could easily have been 2-2 if they would have just ran the ball on the half yard line. Sure, they have a beast defense, but there offense is nothing special really. And he destroyed Peyton Manning in the SB, and nearly beat Brady is the SB. I'd say Wilson's pretty damn good.

johnstjohn1987 Well he's only been in the league for 3 years... Let his stats develop first before we start talking about his stats. And Wilson by no means has bad stats. He is a young guy, as long as they keep there defense. And Wilson works on his skills, there's no reason the Hawks wont see at least a few more Superbowl's with Wilson.

5:11-5:30 is the most epic shit I've ever seen

belichick at 24 seconds knows he's gonna win...the difference in this game was the depth of new england's secondary(Arrington getting benched and butler playing like a beast)...and seattle's lack of depth on their entire roster(lane going out, simon coming in and getting abused)...the patriot's 2nd string team would beat seahawks 2nd string 56-7....seattle's depth is atrocious and it's only gonna get worse having to pay Wilson and lynch, they'll be lucky to make the playoffs next year.

The Seahawks will go to the SB again next year. They played without 3 of their SB defensive starters all season and still went back to the SB.

yeah and seattle was the only team with injuries. Aaron Rodgers was healthy in the NFC championship and the Cardinals were actually planning on starting their 4th string QB vs you. the Pats had injuries too. get used to it. Mayo was out for the year, Hightower needs shoulder surgery, Jones had a bad hip, Easly was out for the pats. it happens... at least they played. not many teams lose Super Bowls and go back... in fact since 2000 the only team to make the playoffs the next year is the patriots. it will be cool to see what pete carroll can do in tough times. any one can be a good coach in good times.

christopher pagan we were better for 3 outta the 4 quarters... we have a better offense and much better special teams. they have an all time great defense but we have a great defense too. they play zone which is something Brady can pick apart. we were the best team all year and we proved it in the Super Bowl.

Best SB in history, by far. It was a nail biter to the very end. Both were the best teams in their AFC/NFC. Not like last years's boring super bowl. And tremendous respect for both teams players and coaches. We probably won't see another SB performance like this, for a long time. I do believe that the Seahawks will be in Super Bowl 50, playing against the Chargers. That's my bold prediction. :)

if there is a game Brady must use to prove he is the GOAT, this is the game. I'm an old timer who has watched football and played it since the early 70s, and we old timers know that Brady absolutely would not have lasted 22 years with the old rules. the game in the 60s 70s 80s and 90s, before the rule changes protecting QBs as 'defenseless' went into effect, was very very violent, and QBs got regularly mauled. Staubach retired early because of concussions, Montana's back was completely wrecked by Lawrence Taylor and company, and Jim Plunkett can hardly walk today. Meanwhile at age 43 Brady was limber enough to throw the Super Bowl trophy to a buddy in another boat after drinking a few shots. Ask Howie Long, my dorm mate at Villanova, about the old rules. Howie has severe arthritis and back degeneration and cannot play any sports anymore except golf. you get the point. Anyhow, in a huge, pressure game, Super Bowl 49 had a bit of the old style game in it - Brady was sacked 6 times by the Legion, knocked around many other times, yet he showed true grit. that second half drive to put the patriots up before the crazy ending is very impressive given the enormous pressure and the fact that the patriots had gone 10 years without a trophy before this game. Some players like Tom are so confident they actually like the pressure. This is the game that puts Brady on the list and in contention for the GOAT.

I may not like either of these teams, but dang that was a Super Bowl!

6 seconds left going i to the second half he throws a touch down. That was a gutsy call by Pete Carroll. But maybe even though that looked good in that moment. He got in & over himself by thinking he can keep calling another gutsy play but this time the ball was intercepted on 2nd & goal. Perfect example of showing you not to get greedy be happy with what you got!

That wasn't Pete Carroll that called the play. The offensive coordinator did. And mathematically, with about half a minute, there was gonna have to be a pass play.

A Seahawks win here would have ended the Patriots dynasty and started a Seattle dynasty. Crazy how it all went away on a 1 yard play.
