I have a stupid question: Why dont planes and helicopters have parachutes instead of just letting everyone face certain death?

There are some that do, however the size of the parachute to have any effect would be massive, then you have to add the stress on the airframe. Finally you have to look at elements like autorotation for helicopters and glide distance for aircraft meaning if its just an engine failure they dont fall out the sky, they only do that when something massive goes wrong which is a low chance, and even lower that something like that goes wrong but doesn't damage the parachute system. Not a stupid question at all, one I did some research on during my engineering degree because I had the same question!

I think they need to get rid of the helicopter and start using the Osprey. Time for a change. ✌🏻❤️🇺🇸

He said that glass of water can demagnetize magnets, he said the Democrats are going to rename Pennsylvania. Said we were going to go to world War II. He called Sept 11th "7/11". This is all recent!
