You're critical about the environment and I commend you as it's true Yes, the private properties are impressive but the road works seem like that of a middle class neighbourhood in certain Nigerian cities. The easiest fix would be to tar the roads but it still won't bring about side works and Greenery like you'll find in Abuja residents as that will cost the state government too much on compensation except the owners of those mansions are considerate enough to forfeit some of their frontages to make way for side walks and trees

@Zee On Demand, you made excellent points about the layout! Igbos have to take a cue from other places around the world. There is no reason for these very expensive homes to be built in areas without proper infrastructure in the 21st century. The wives of these rich men should hold their husbands to task and require that the areas be beautified! Igbo women should hold all of their husbands to task to build up the environment and stop focusing on "I pass my neighbor" houses.

@zeeondemand this is great content. Palatial homes, though there's need to upgrade the environment, roads and all. Walkways need to be created and the gutters should be covered too. Resurface the roads. I'm quite impressed. So here them dey hide 😂😂😂

What give a dent to beautiful estates in Owerri are rough roads that let down otherwise very exquisite buildings

I quite agree with you Zee, the houses are definitely massive, impressive and beautiful, but the environment doesn’t match up with the houses. The streets are quite narrow and not much attention is paid to aesthetics in the neighborhood. It seems like the estate management or landlords needs to come together to create that wow factor that will take the estate to that next level you describe.

I know a lots big boys that owns some of those mansions the resides in nnewi and onitsha they club in Owerri every week end and of cause people in diaspora like South Africa,Europe,America, other African country.

All I see are buildings that look like they’re from England. No traditional or cultural presence anywhere. Are we ashamed of ourselves? It definitely exposes the average Nigerian mentality that we can’t develop our own traditional art and architecture, instead we copy British styles which look very odd in an African/tropical environment if we’re being honest with ourselves.

Go round igbo cities like Owerri awka onitsha enugu asaba umuahia and aba , go to other states you will understand what I am saying, then go to lekki Lagos banana island, agor Anthony village, trad fair, Alaba international computer village and ladipo ,then Abuja is at least 75 percent igbo own. I thought udenwa estate is the most expensive and most luxurious estate? Anyway, this estate is just endowed with fancy luxurious houses. The roadwork is rather basic and not estate-like, so I agree with you on that. No proper sidewalks. That’s a shame. Even in udenwa estate. It’s like that’s a thing in owerri. Another thing owerri lacks is street naming. If newcomers want to know which road is which, how would they know when there are no street names? A normal estate is also supposed to have its name boldly written outside but from the video I didn’t see any name. I’ve been around this area multiple times and never knew there was an estate like this in new owerri. But it would be nice to own a property here tho.

When will massive projects be undertaken to provide affordable housing and estates for the working class? 3 bedroom duplexes, 3 bedroom bungalows, Four story 2 and 3 bedroom apartments, etc. Not the areas that decay into slums in a few short years, but neighborhoods that have proper landscaping, waste management, proper roads, etc for the working class like other developed countries. As I always say, Nigeria hates poor people.

Lol owerri becomes more of a joke every day. Houses going for the equivalent of $1.1 million dollars?? in OWERRI??!! A city with regular insecurity, bad roads, no good hospitals, no real industries just hotels and bars. The roads in the estate aren’t even swept and there’s open gutters. Do they not have a “home owner association” type of thing where everyone contributes to the beautification and upkeep of the estate? This is corruption because the housing market in Nigeria is not regulated. Anyone can put any amount on an anything. Scammers and others with ill-gotten wealth continue to inflate the price of everything. I don’t blame the upper middle class or even moderately rich Nigerians that japa to other sane countries where you can work and have a very decent and comfortable life for your family.

On another side note, yes, Igbos will eventually run out of land to farm and feed ourselves seeing how small Igbo land is to being with. You think northerners are showing us pepper now? We haven’t seen anything yet. When they cut off the food supply many will be crying of hunger while inside their mansions. And why can’t we incorporate African/traditional architecture into our buildings? This obsession with British style buildings is actually irritating. Nigerians are so colonized in their minds, it’s kind of sad.
