Inside The Mighty Nimitz Class Supercarrier : USS Carl Vinson CVN 70 Aircraft Carrier
Inside The Mighty Nimitz class supercarrier USS Carl Vinson CVN-70 Aircraft Carrier - USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) is the United States Navy's third Nimitz-class supercarrier. She is named for Carl Vinson, a Congressman from Georgia, in recognition of his contributions to the U.S. Navy. The ship was launched in 1980, undertook her maiden voyage in 1983, and underwent refueling and overhaul between 2005 and 2009. Carl Vinson's call sign is "Gold Eagle".
The keel was laid at Newport News Shipbuilding on 11 October 1975, and on 15 March 1980 the ship was launched/christened. Congressman Carl Vinson became the first person in the history of the United States Navy to witness a ship's launching in his honor. After builder sea trials, she was delivered to the Navy on 26 February 1982.

USS Carl Vinson made a port call in Casablanca early '80s. Heavy swells, though the Ocean appeared calm. On board, it is a city; 6000 crew. Out of this world, once in a lifetime gift, I felt. I could say more in superlatives; however, unique experience I share with a chosen few of my friends. Forever grateful. Merci. Khadija
That was very interesting thank you! No wonder sailors & navy personnel are so slim with all the exercise they get walking up & down all those stairs!!! Keep safe on this beautiful vessel! Love from Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South Africa❤❤❤
CVN 70! That’s my ship! 🤟
shipmate did a damn good job!
This Man was FANTASTIC! I listened to every word! I can't even say how much he should be promoted to the spokesperson of the US NAVY! HE is too cool and very articulate!

Needs to pop for a new cover though. That one he had on is a ratty mess. He should be wearing a crisp, clean, new one. Other than that he did a very good job.
Served on the Vinson from 94-98. I was one of the first security team leaders to take over when the marines left.

Surely only the best of the best are allowed to serve on such an important ship. Thanks to all who serve in our military!
My daughter is on this ship. She’s a GM, E-3. In Bremerton WA right now for dry dock maintenance and repairs.
I served on CVN70 Carl Vinson 99-01
Thank you for sharing. Dad served with VF-11 and VF-111 on numerious Essex Carriers in WWII and Korea, then Oriskany. Salute US Navy!
I had a small part to play in the building of the Carl Vinson, Newport News Shipyard 1982. Welder X-18
Spent 4 years on the Chucky V from 1986-90. Air Dept, V2 Div., Cat 2 Safety PO. Nice job shipmate on the tour. Brings back great memories.

I just missed you bud. I was in V2 Waist Cats 92-95. I'm sure we knew some of the same people. I don't think anyone who has never been in V2 Division could possibly comprehend the hours we worked underway. 18 hours was the absolute minimum.
The carl vinson id the best ships into the whole world
Whew! That is a lot of steel there...unimaginable! 🇺🇸👍
Great tour. Love from Australia. BTW, Vincent is Latin for "conquers".
Ive been on that ship and others when I lived in Honolulu. It's pretty cool
My late dad’s ship in the early 90s. He was an MSC.
I served '84-'85 as DM3 in CVIC, things get quite busy when fully staffed and with airwing aboard.
Well Done ! Thank You for serving our Country. God Bless !.

I'm really happy to see we have so many military cucks lining up to eat shit, live in a tiny little cabinet, go to hostile territory, risk death, and kill innocent people without questioning anything. It's an awesome sight to see. As a Haliburton, Boeing, Lockheed investor, I'm really really glad we have these little cucks running around. At the next stockholder meeting, I'm going to pitch the idea that they power these ships with giant wheels or stationary bikes for these little cucks to ride while they're on the ship. It'll save us the cost of installing the nuclear reactor, and then neutralizing it when the ship is decommissioned. Thank you so much for serving the shareholders. My bottom line blesses you!

@DEFENSE-TV In the thumbnail for this video you have the USS Nimitz-68 in the picture but this is about Carl Vinson - 70. Maybe putting a thumbnail of Carl Vinson would be better?
I'd love to go on those types of ships especially flight deak just to take in the scale of the thing
What about living quarters, chow hall, galley . . . . . . etc. !

Wish you showed a little more of facing aft and saluting the colors, and then asking permission to come aboard. Tried to explain it to civilian friends and they don't understand. Also, miss the Dungarees
I'll be checking in tomorrow 😭

I was on the Vinson across from the Lincoln. I remember I hooked up with a woman whose husband was deployed with the Lincoln and didn't know about it until she ended the relationship when the Lincoln came back.

My first ship was a Knox class frigate (Uss Cook FF-1083)….I’d be so lost on a carrier lol
Wow

Do air carrier wings bring their own maintenance personnel when embark on a carrier?
@blackbearva3171

yes...
Why do carrier groups not fly "radar drones" 100 to 200 miles out and around the carrier group?
@NavyVet4955
Жыл бұрын
Because we have an entire fleet surrounding the carrier along with covering each other with radar. This is bolstered with aircraft in combat zones.
in a VP squadron right now. boy I do not want to find myself stationed on this.
My old home 🏡😂.
😎✌️✌️
Was really looking forward to learning more about this magnificent machine and her crew. Unfortunately, after the first 6 or 8 minutes, I got tired of 1) the canned, and almost computer generated oratory of the host, but mostly, became truly tired of having the video interrupted virtually every 60 seconds with an advertisement. This was nothing more than a military training video . Really told me nothing I was hoping to see, other than the reason for the name. Very disappointed.
Did a Tiger Cruise on her…

they don't have the abilities to operate one should they ever get one, the USA since WWII has basically wrote how carrier operations work, and have perfected it to the point where they are a real force to be feared. the Chinese would have to start from scratch, to figure out how to do basic carrier operations, and the people they will call, will be US to show them the way.
missing are where you sleep and eat !!!!.
All I worry about when people's talking too much nonsenses don`t try to explaint & jerking on others don`t pay ~attentions or focus on subjects talking about !!!!SO_maybe covid_19 arounds & have to destroy e,t,c
DAMM glad i wore dungarees & steel toe boondockers,we were the last of a dying breed of sailor.the navy should have just issued back the the olive green BDUs just like they wore in Vietnam instead of them goofy ass ugly blue cammies they ware now.at least the greens looked military & sharper when pressed & blowsed.
Did Westpac 88' on the Battlestar CVN-70 but we wore real sailor uniforms not the clown suits they wear now!
