USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) is a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier currently in service with the United States Navy. Commissioned in 1977, the ship is the second of the ten Nimitz-class aircraft carriers currently in service, and is the first ship named after the 34th President of the United States and General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower.
The vessel was initially named simply as USS Eisenhower, much like the lead ship of the class, Nimitz, but the name was changed to its present form on 25 May 1970. The carrier, like all others of her class, was constructed at Newport News Shipbuilding Company in Virginia, with the same design as the lead ship, although the ship has been overhauled twice to bring her up to the standards of those constructed more recently.

I was on IKE from 1987 to 1991. ET2 Packard OER division, oe09 Ships Inertial Navigation System, (SINS). I had a lot of fun. There were plenty of times when it was not fun. Going through the Suez Canal for Desert Shield was great. If you were onboard with me look me up.

Just saying, i slept in the foreward most topside most berthing. I was an ABE. As much as i miss the job, I miss my friends spending 20 hours a day more. The hardest mother fuckers I ever met were topside on the IKE. Godbless you new kids being a part of this mighty ships history!!! You will miss her when u r gone! Rip ABH2 Brown❤❤❤
Вопрос для знатоков, при развертывании АУГ (авианесущий ударной группировки) для боевого применения куду пропадают корабли охранения? Как защитить авианосец от гиперзвуковых ракет? Квадрат на котором работает авианосец очень большой. Корветов, эсминцев, крейсеров и др. кораблей охранения даже за линией горизонта не видно😮

There is usually a cruiser close to the carrier. The other escorts are deployed much farther out looking for threats. Just because you don’t see them it doesn’t mean they are not there.
