Inside the Floor Routine Once Thought Impossible

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Aly Raisman took Olympic gold in 2012 with a mind-boggling opening tumbling pass. The reigning champion breaks down that same pass, which she hopes will help her medal again in Rio. Image: Robert Libetti/The Wall Street Journal

    +Theologos Just cutting out soda helped that much? How many did you drink a day before you quit drinking them? I'm really curious since I drink them daily myself. 🤔

    It's primarily from cutting out processed carbohydrates or simple sugars. These wreck your insulin levels and cause fat storage, so removing them from your diet is a great way to lose weight and be healthier. Plus, cutting out those simple carbs from sodas (juice too) lowers how much water you tend to hold, so it helps reduce bloat.

    Niklas LW she’s underrated in the sense that she’s always been in the shadow of others - Weiber and Douglas has all the headlines in 2012 and Biles in 2016. It’s just timing. If you look at records, most in the gymnastics community would probably put Aly as the third greatest American gymnast behind Biles and Miller but she is rarely considered as such in general.

    @@pleasepermitmetospeakohgre1504 you've probably never been sexually assaulted then. she didnt just say it happened to her, it did happen. he was convicted and went to jail for it and it happened to hundreds of other girls too. there is literally no correlation between her abuse and her choosing to do a nude photoshoot but your ignorant little lizard brain can only think "if she was molested (that is if she didnt make the whole thing up) shouldnt she be ahsamed of her body and all things remotely sexual for the rest of her life?" and it wasnt just a naked photoshoot it was the ESPN body issue that is meant to celebrate all different types of athletes bodies, not remotely sexual. She has an insanely strong body that earned the USA a gold medal and she has ever right to show off and be proud, if she wants to showcase it in a prestigious magazine its nobody's decision but her own.

    @heart snob Yes, you are exactly right. Sometimes a field of competition is dominated by a single, amazing, athlete. Competitors who would otherwise win, are repeatedly kept off of the top podium. It's not just about being good, it's about who destiny forces you to compete against.

    +Locke Sir. mothing is a "gift" it is a continous training. of course their trainers saw "something" added to her many hours of trianing. people said "my mom said I'm gifted in singing. O.k but my question is? do you do any vocal course? any training.. they respond. No. but my momma said I'm gifted"a talent without many hours of training,discipline and failure is Nothing. of curse their parents want her to be gymnast. it is an expensive career too. so .it is a whole package.

  • @Prince_Sharming

    @Prince_Sharming

    Gustavo Mendias Read what I posted. I did not deny that her results came from constant training. That probably accounted for more than 90% of the reason why she is so good at what she does. HOWEVER, you cannot deny the fact that some people, some people (just read this part), have some sort of external outside INCLINATION to be good at certain things. For example, some people are "gifted" athletically, some have higher than average IQ's, some are born with perfect pitch, etc. HOWEVER, most people are not of the above description, so they have to rely on pretty much 100% hard work.

    Beth Tweddle used to compete the pass without the punch layout to finish so she was probably the closest to achieving it. But she often almost went out of bounds even without the layout so I'm guessing that even though she was probably capable of the skill she wouldn't be able to keep it in bounds.

  • @SheaNDamon1829

    It's not that uncommon without the layout. Ellie Downie has competed the 1 1/2 to double arabian (sometimes with a leap out of the arabian), and I'm fairly certain the Viktoria Komova did as well. The layout is what makes it so challenging. 0.2 extra in connection value and much more difficult to keep in bounds.

    The height you are able to get is really amazing. Combined with fantastic body control from hours of self-disciple you are the perfect example of athletic ability taken to the max. Thank you for sharing this inspiring video.

    I am so grateful for this kind of high-tech super visual breakdown of the sport. As a spectator, I love gymnastics, but find it so insanely fast that I struggle to fully understand what is happening.
