Inside the Bee Hive what honey bees do. See eggs, larvae, Queen Laying Eggs, pollen, Condensation
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Inside the hive Close UP interior view of various honey bee behaviors.
Hygienic varroa resistant honey bees doing what they do, laying eggs, storing pollen, waggle dancing, grooming, drones hatching, feeding larvae, tending brood frames.
I have not had to treat for varroa destructor, why, because we haven't been able to find any. These bees are highly sensitive to the presence of varroa destructor and simply remove anything, or any bee that has problems.

You may be wondering what survivor line stock I'm using? I'm glad you asked! I get them from BeeWeaver, I pay for them like everyone else and they did not give me any concessions to mention them at all. Here is a link to their website where you can read more about a line of honey bees that have not been treated for varroa since 2001, that's right, 2001! These beekeepers are way ahead of the game and these bees are the result of the survivor approach:
www.beeweaver.com/beeweaver-bees
I've been working with their honey bees since 2007 and couldn't be happier. Tell them Frederick Dunn sent you and I'll still have to pay the same as everyone else!

Iv always known about the bee dance as a way of communicating but never considered what is actually required of the bee/s. Who first taught the bees to communicate in this way? How did the first bees learn to communicate in order to cooperate if they had no form of communication to begin with. How does a bee live long enough to: educate itself, learn to be attentive, develop a memory, make good decisions and all straight from the “crib”!? Otherwise the females could just ignore each other to death. The only plausible explanation is they were given or “programmed” with all the necessary abilities from the very beginning. Thanks to God for the bees.

When I was a child we stayed at a vacation home of a friend of my father's that had a HUGE beehive on the outside of the large picture window in the livingroom. It had been there for years and was about 5 feet high and 2,5 to 3 feet across. My mother kept trying to get me to go outside and play with my brothers, but that hive was fascinating! I loved watching the Queen move around (once I found her) and from books there learned most of my life's knowledge about bees from watching & reading while there. I begged for a beehive but as 1 of my brothers is allergic to bees, it was a fast No!Our local conservation center has a glass hive that the bees enter and exit through a plastic pipe. I would bring my children there when younger but I enjoyed them more than they did. They are fascinating to me. Never wish to be a baby bee with a cold or allergy, your aunts will kill you instead of cuddles and chicken soup! lol

So many types of jobs in the hive it's so fascinating! And I actually feel sorry for the queen as her only job is to lay eggs. It's sad to see bees dying in this day and age, they're so precious.

I just enjoy watching bees. Watching videos of bees keeps me from opening my hives.
I wish a was a bee, living in a blissful, selfless organization and for a short period of time
As a Trekkie with a particular fascination with the Borg, I find myself comparing the social structure of the Collective to the information you're giving here and I'm realizing the writers for Star Trek got the Borg all wrong; they tried to make all Borg drone units as homogenized, interchangeable parts of a vast machine intellect, and said they based that on the social structures of insects like ants and bees, but seeing how many different specializations there actually are within a single bee colony makes me realize that the Borg would require similar specializations just to function. Granted, they did try to rectify that in Voyager when they started exploring Borg social structure through Seven of Nine and, later, the Borg children, but one of the commentary tracks for the movie First Contact mentioned that the director and writers had a difficult time figuring out how to direct the background Borg as they had no idea what they should be doing that was both interesting and looked Borg-like. After watching this, I realize all they had to do was watch an observation bee hive and figure out how to translate bee specializations to the Borg; i.e. instead of nurse bees, have medical Borg with specialized scanners and surgical implements to do on-site maintenance on other drones or have engineer or construction Borg that fill the role of the bees who build and maintain comb.
It pissses me off that I didn't learn more about bees in middle school instead it was butterfly's which aren't near as interesting
