But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

    As I wrote a few months back on a SciShow Video: You forgot to mention my favorite fact about bees! Every female bee can potentially lay eggs. Sometimes they even do so, that's a high offense against the entire colony. Their eggs will be killed off if found so they are mostly trying to hide them. There are special bees however that check on all the larvae and if one of them does not contain a certain type of pheromone that makes her smell like the other larvae this one is immediately killed and then there is almost and entire investigation process to find the worker who laid the egg. If this worker is found she is stung dead and removed from the hive to make sure the hive is not ruled by anarchy. God you gotta love those bees.

Egg-laying bees are egg-laying bees, not such thing as a ‘Queen’ which is a big term reflecting superiority that only reflects me, and we superior beings (me & my pure protectors aka the alphas) would never ferce any unconsenting souls into a pointIs morteI worId, and bees are just programmed to do that wrong thing, as every other animaI, by the one that made this harribIe wrong worId! But still, hum’ns have no right to steal honey from bees who work for their own food!

    No...and they make humans out to be thieves, when really bees are hoarders. If we did not take off the honey, they would become what is called "honey bound" where the queen cannot find room to lay eggs. They will then swarm and find a new home.

  • @MaraWaka
    @MaraWaka8 жыл бұрын

    This was very interesting. My dad is a beekeeper so I should show him this. He told me once that the queen has I believe it was 24-48 to mate with a drone. If this fails, she can become sterile. This is why weeks and weeks of rain can really hurt the chance of a new hive forming because it affects the potential queen's mating dance. Also bees need a variety of flowers. Almond flowers are not good for bees since they can't make a lot of honey from them. They can get food, but once the flowers are gone, the bees starve. However, since there is so much money to make in almonds, many beekeepers sacrifice a few hives for the money. Even though they know the hives will probably die since almond flowers provide very little good nutrition for bees. But I say this only from what I heard from beekeepers, I am not one myself.

    Queen bees go on what is called a "mating flight".... basically they get it on mid flight with other males to store their sperm (and the guys die on the act).... so if there is a lot of rain, then there is no "mating flight" done..

    You'd think they'd realize that the bees have higher pollenation rates for the trees if they have other types of pollen, from lower plants, like allyssum, marigolds & bushes. If they're doing this, they are causing an balance that is resulting in lower pollination rates of their almond trees. The hive will be healthier, stronger, and have higher pollenation rates, as well as larger reproduction rates, if they provide some variety. They could even plant sage on the edges of the orchards, toss in some allyssum, a few citrus tress & production, other factors being the same, will increase. The USDA has info about this, so does the Farmer's Almanac. This has been known for many, many years, was tested, as some thought ut was just an "old wives tale"... Well, it was an old wive's tale, yet like many of those, it just so happens to be true.

    Usually what happens in agricultural set ups is that mobile hives will be brought in to pollinate (and make honey). Otherwise, bees wouldnt be able to properly colonize in vast fiels of one or two plants since they would only have a short amt of time to visit all of the plants

    Some clarifications from a beekeeper: Honey is not made from vomit. Anything that goes into a bees true stomach is used for energy, while honey nectar is stored in the honey crop, which is not a second stomach. Might sound like splitting hairs, but I would compare it more to a birds crop, or a chipmunks cheeks. Also, queens don’t go to another hive to mate. Rather, they fly to drone congregation areas, which are sites where queens and drones of many different hive gather in one area high in the air (roughly 15-100+ ft). They mate in these special gathering areas, and new queens and drones will continue to use the same places year after year. We don’t really know how they pick these sites.

    I made a bee themed necklace to sell on line and the person who bought it traded me HONEY and beeswax and the brown brood honey (no babies in it) OMG the flavor was so complex, like nothing I've ever had. I love honey so much. Bees are amazing.

    Allah says in Holy Quran: And your Lord inspired to the bee, "Take for yourself among the mountains, houses, and among the trees and [in] that which they construct. Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you]." There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought. ( Surat Al Nahl ) Note: In This verses Allah addressing the female bee that make this works.

    I was just relating to how this feels like watching PBS in my head but I kept thinking that while interesting, this could be a KZread video "based on a true story but with lots of untrue parts, like a story from a drunken man." But then when I saw that your affiliated with PBS I figured it had to be correct. Fascinating video
