INSIDE Singapore Airlines' training centre

Special vlog: in Singapore Airlines' training facility. How they train for emergencies, how pilots learn in the Boeing 787 full-motion simulator. I fly a Dreamliner sim, visit the menu development room, take a look at the new First Class Suites, learn passenger management techniques, see the in-flight galley, and much more.
Thanks to Karl and Singapore Airlines for giving me access to their training centre to shoot this vlog for you. It was fascinating seeing how staff train for roles with Singapore Airlines.

Thank you for the tour. When I was 15 & visiting Singapore, my uncle gave me a tour of the training center when it was at Paya Lebar. In the mid-1980’s, my cousin was the secretary for the man who planned all the SQ menus worldwide. She arranged a tour for me at the catering center! ❤️

Evacuations of any kind, whether aircraft, marine or even just a building/house, are inherently dangerous as they generally take place under duress or require actions that involve more risk than everyday egress - hence why you use jetbridges and stairs instead of slides.

I've Flown 4 legs with Singapore Airlines all in A380s, the premium economy was good, but not great which was dissapointing, the older lay out was noisey and there was only a small wall seperating Economy and Premium, Food service from London was Brilliant, but from Melbourne it sucked. With the newer lay out where the Premium had its own toilets it was much better, in the older model where we shared it with Economy the toilet needed to be cleaned more often, i mentioned it to the cabin crew but they did not seem to care. I will happilly fly with them again, but I will go to business class to give it a shot a redemption Good video, glad to see how welcoming they where with what you could film. I would have asked a 4th time about the slide.

That’s NOT correct. V1 is the speed at which you recognise an engine failure and either (a) continue the take off and clear the certification screen height ( usually 35 ft) at the end of the Take Off Distance Available (runway + stopway + clearway, if they’re present) or (b) reject the take-off and stop within the Runway available (Accelerate Stop Distance). In reality most will continue the take off if the failure occurs within a few knots of V1 - the history of rejected take-offs at V1 is quite grim.
