Inside Pakistan's Smugglers' Market (near Afghanistan)
I go inside a notorious smugglers' market famous for black market goods like stolen U.S. Army and NATO gear from Afghanistan. This is Karkhano Market in the Pakistani border city of Peshawar in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The market is located on the Grand Trunk Road and is at the gateway to the Khyber Pass, which leads to Afghanistan.
Want more from this market? Watch me trying Afghanistan's national food there • Trying Afghanistan's N... .
The smuggled goods and drugs at this market primarily come from Afghanistan.
Due to the war in Afghanistan finishing and the U.S. Army leaving, the market has dried up of guns, ammo, night-vision goggles, flak jackets, and all other stolen American goods. Market vendors are now trying to find new businesses to fill this gap.
If you're a foreigner going to this market, I'd suggest taking a Pashto or Urdu-speaking friend as barely anyone speaks English there. It's also quite dangerous as the surrounding area is a den for drug addicts.

Only in India does Karl show negative aspects (dont bring up the drug thing, because that exists everywhere). Yes u are right once there was fear and chaos but now Alahamdo lillah everything is ok as u observed. Allah Hafiz
Greatly appreciate your channel. Thanx so much. My days of traveling have passed so living vicariously through your channel is always enjoyable.
Hi Karl, I am from Afghanistan and it just sucks how close you came to the border of Afghanistan and never went to explore there. The security has gotten way better then before in Afghanistan. Please come and explore Afghanistan as Yes theory, Drew and other youtubers. There is no more risk for foriegners or locals.

@Jahsh Kaushal Waalaikumsalam wbt.. Well... US agreed Taliban is the only answer to govern Afghanistan. They've tried for decades to denied Taliban present and failed...and they've left billions of military assets for Taliban utilisation. Surely that's a truce to reconcile with Afghanistan people as a whole. For me Taliban should've learned from their past mistakes and foster friendly ties with international community in accordance to shariah compliance. Wassallamualaikumwarahmatullahhiwabarakatuh

I absolutely love these videos Karl. I’m lucky enough to have been to India twice and it’s amazing.
This is seriously the best thing I've watched in years.
Awesome bro! Watching from NZ. I can’t wait to travel and see the different things you see, compared to what I see here in Aotearoa. Much love brother ✌🏾

But the respect that he actually displays is so heartwarming. I am Kenyan (from the Kisii tribe) and if anyone took time to speak my language, I’d be extra nice to that person?
I love learning about foreign cultures, because I am intrested in seeing how other people live their lifes. I am German and have never been to Pakistan, India, Afghanistan all those places (I think Tunisia is the most foreign place I've seen and that was like 10 years ago when I was 11 or 12 years old). I stumbled about this Channel by pure chance and I had a great intrest in this channel.
I am not sure why I find your videos so enjoyable and interesting. Such a different world from ours. Your respectful personality to all the different people is great as well.

You almost fit right in. I can say this as Pashtun from close by that area in Pak and having visited there and having family who also look like you in the Pakol and Salwar Khamez. You probably could have risked going further down the road despite the common warning against tourists venturing further. Love the videos as always.
The small video game shop really made me nostalgic for the small independent gaming stores that all went out of business in my area around 10 years ago.

My late father, a veteran of WW2 1st marine division. Told me of how they were going through a small village on an island Guadalcanal, Okinawa or Pellieu can’t remember now. But the old ladies were sitting outside making tea and invited him to sit and drink with them. He did and told me the Japanese were just like us in many ways. Despite the horrors inflicted on each side, he had respect for the soldiers he fought against and spoke of the horrible waste of life on both sides. They were all just doing their jobs for country or emperor.

I just found your channel and I am enamored. Thank you for showing us these places, it is so interesting. I really value getting to see what it is like there, especially as someone who will likely never get to travel to such far places. This level of sharing experiences really exemplifies the beauty of the internet. This gives a totally different perspective compared to how Pakistan is portrayed in the western media. It helps to make the world seem like a smaller place, seeing how the everyday person lives their lives there. Blessings to you and your wife.
