I am so surprised by the comments... because I work on an ICU in Germany, and that’s exactly how we do it. And we are by no means a „most advanced“ facility. But for us it was clear from the beginning that we must strictly seperate the patient room from the rest of the ward. We always do it like this when we have patients that need to be isolated, for whatever reason. We use baby phones to communicate with the colleagues outside to ask them to bring us stuff. (One is at the patients bed, the other one at the desk on the ward) There is a small room between the aisle/rest of the ward and compartment with the patient bed, like a sluice. If you enter it from the aisle, the door to the patient must be closed, and vice versa. When I see all these pictures from the USA, where there is only one huge ward with patients, desks, storage things etc., just with some curtains in between, it doesn‘t surprise me that the numbers of patients increase so much 😫 And the staff also gets ill 😢 I understand that they can‘t do any better, because this is how the hospital is built. But come on, we‘ve been having infectious diseases, contagious germs, multi-resistant bacteria etc. forever. I am kind of shocked that this video and the way they handle things in this hospital seems to be exceptional or unique to many people!! Anyways, bravo 👏👏👏👏 to all these nurses and doctors in Italy for their work!!

This is very impressive. I've been to a few hospitals in southern italy, back in the 90's, in smaller cities, they were very very antiquated, so to see this I'm surprised and impressed. In italy, some things are still antiquated, but the irony is that some things are very advanced further even than the US, I've seen this time and time again in the last 25 years that I've traveled there. BTW I have a first cousin that works in a hospital in Milan, I'm hoping she's alright

That's how to do it, ppe(personal protection equipment) is essential for medical staff on the front lines. All hospitals need this equipment(i can pretty much guarantee it will be written into law after all this is over)

Well, that’s all very well for a “respiratory” hospital, where all the wards are “zero pressure” and there’s an air locked door in between. There are probably 10 rooms like this in normal hospitals.. and when inundated with patients then what? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Then there is the Triage. All western countries are already talking about this. Triage is a method of prioritizing medical assistance that is not legally codified or methodically specified, especially when there is an unexpectedly high number of patients and objectively insufficient resources. In this case, the delayed or waiting medical aid is inevitable.

@Sean Baumann that’s really irrelevant, novel coronavirus isn’t airborne.. it’s more the infrastructure and these doors, with seperate rooms that prevents cross contamination

Guys, this is exactly what you need in terms of gear. They are using full-face reusable respirators installed with P100 filter cartridges. Even I am not a medical worked I wear a 3M 6500 series half-face reusable respirator as well as sealed goggles. If you don't want to get it, that is exactly what you need to do plus washing your hands frequently.

I have a 7500 series one loving it! First they laughed at me now they ask where to get one. Poor sheep, they should have listened when we warned them but yeah.. making fun of people was better then. Now they die in the hospital

@@thulegezelschap5884 Yep. At first, they thought they knew it all and was quoting the WHO and CDC. Well, guess what? Even the WHO and CDC are now having to walk it back. They were simply spreading misinformation to stop panic buying. So, they laughed at people like us thinking we are over the top. People are lazy, they don't want to do research. COVID-19 can be transmitted via aerosol in micro-droplets. Did you watch this documentary shot by NHK in Japan? They brought in special hi-tech gear like laser and super sensitive cameras to show you how micro-droplets can infect you. I tried to tell whoever I know to gear up properly like what we have done, but what I found was you can't help people when they don't want to be helped. Too bad. People need to watch this documentary, ideally the whole thing, if not at least the part about micro-droplets infection and it starts at 28:53. kzread.info/dash/bejne/f3-B3LuOm6etf9Y.html
