Inside LSU's $28 Million Football Building

Спорт

Louisiana State University (LSU) unveiled its $28 million renovated Football Operations Building in July 2019. The new facility features a state-of-the-art locker room with sleep pods, charging stations, and new technology. The renovated building was designed by HNTB Architecture, which previously designed other multimillion-dollar athletic centers.

Inside LSU's $28 Million Football Building

Yall seem to forget how much profit LSU gets from their football games. This is a key to recruiting. Better recruiting = better players = better teams = better games = more people and crowds coming in. And because football is such a big deal to LSU on a regular basis, they prioritize. You can talk about the rest of the student life, but not one single thing brings in money to lsu like football

As an LSU Student, this has nothing to do with tuition rates or student loan debt; however, it has everything to do with donations. Alumni donate money to a specific organization, and thats what the money is designated to be used for. At the end of the day its a business, and like it or not the money is going to go where the donors intend for it to and what generates the most profit for the university. And no, I am not affiliated with any LSU athletic organization

People in the comments section be complaining about how they spend their money. People say it is excessive until you realize that all this money is from people who donate directly to the football program and the fact that they manage to bring in 90000 fans every game. The school would spend more money on academic facilities too until you realize that 90000 people don’t show up to watch Sarah study for her calc 150 class. Just realize that student athletes work 60-70 hours a week with school and sport.

With school and athletics we are working 60-70 hours a week. I do understand your frustration and it is valid. However, if the athletes couldn’t already get into the school by themselves based on their academics, then the coaches will choose the easiest major the school has to offer them without their consent. Life of an athlete is brutally difficult and unfair but your criticism is valid

There's a poor kid studying at LSU who has a scholarship likely funded by some of the same people who donate to the football program, in facilities that are improved because of the excess revenue football generates. Not to mention the athletically gifted poor kids who will gain wealth after LSU prepares them for the NFL. Those pro players end up donating money to the poor neighborhoods they come from. There's less poverty thanks to things like this, not more.

To all the people complaining about wasting university money and tuition being high. YOU ARE WRONG. I know you’re wondering were the money is coming from. Well let me tell you about booster and private donations. See the money that is given to the ex: tiger football campaign. Is used for equipment building, updates, scholarships, and etc. same thing as private donations. And for the people that say that they don’t need all that extra stuff, I ask do you know what it takes to be a D1 Athlete and to add to that be a LSU football player which at the time they are 1 in the entire country. Let’s not forget that they are still young people and entertainment would be nice since you get up 6 in the fricking morning every day to put 100 and 10 percent out on the field. So for people who say this is a waste even though it’s there money do what they do. And you will understand stand why they get this stuff

@@kevinbond8966 You're right they do make a ton of bucks for the school but it just seems like everything is in reverse and they've lost sight of what college is really about. I wouldn't say they "deserve" it. A lot of dough gets spent on college athletes. The bottom line is getting a free education in exchange for their athletic ability and contributions. It's all been corrupted. For every athlete getting a full ride four kids could be getting scholarships for other more important careers. Don't misunderstand me I've always been a fan but college sports have lost much of their allure in favor of greed and favoritism imo.

Ya this is why we need to stop guaranteeing student loans. If you're too poor too afford college and you cant get scholarships that is truly, truly unfortunate but you need to just go get a job. Itll be better and unless you go stem which you probably wont, it's only about 5-10% of degrees, your just gonna start at an entry level job that you didnt need to go to college for more than likely. But going into crippling debt so these giant(I mean that litterally) assholes can play football for 4 more years and probably not make it to the NFL.
