chris bates some people have the means but dont really care about cars. This car, in this condition could be in a museum or in a private colection.

Take the diesel out and put an LS7 engine in? Take out the four wheel drive? Makes me cry to hear that. Why would anyone buy a Range Rover and take out the four wheel drive.

It's italian engine from VM with 4 heads. It's a nightmare :) Tha car is so beautifull !! Congratulations !!

The Vm unit is based on a marine diesel. fit a td5 5 cyl . excellent engine. that car in RHD UK spec is worth loads ! Big Money with manual box ! it looks like £20 Grand car GBP ( or £30 Grand ) here in the UK ! DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING you will destroy a mint classic ! every Dollar spent changing stuff will cost you fifty dollars of value !

Yes, and should stay there :) Marine engines have been designed to work in conditions other than cars. Four separate heads is not the peak of technology and I know that there are many problems with these engines. It may have been great when it was new ;)

***** 2 wheel drive ? and fit a Yank engine ? ? NUTCASE ! Convert it to RHD and send it here ! with a TD5 engine ! or a 3.9 V8 EFI. = £££££££ VM is an Italian Marine engine = ( boat engine ) even a 200 or 300 series diesel would be better.

30k for a nearly perfect Range Rover VM and you are going the fuck it up by changing things? Just leave it as it is and watch the temperature gauge when you drive it for God's sake...

yup, they don't appreciate classics. Rule #1 only modify stuff that improves the vehicle's reliability (fix factory faults) and never change the visuals!! so no lowering suspension.

Not much to offer over what has been commented...I have owned classic Land Rovers for many years and there's not that many left. It's a shame that something this nice has plans to be cut-up. Please reconsider your plans to change this classic piece of Range Rover history. If the diesel engine isn't legal for your state, then please sell it to someone who can keep it intact.

Some people have the means but dont understand the value of a car. Its a crime to do what you did with an example in this condition. Its like I buy a 60's Corvette in great condition and change the interior and put a Honda engine on it.

Wasn't the 2 door discontinued after 1984? I believe the side mirrors were also moved to the doors in 1984. A 2 door with door mounted side mirrors is probably a 1984. I just read on wikipedia that the 2 door was produced for the french market until 1994.

I had a 1982 2 doors i wish i never sold it and it was 10% of how clean your truck is.

Yep !! Dont change anything except Change out the VM Diesel and fit a 3.9 Rover V8 then plaster the chassis and underside, inner wings and internal bulk head with Wax Oil. Fit 235's AT2 General Grabbers or similar, fit oversize twin pipe exhaust - angle out to the side and rubber mud flaps all round. Sorted. may be leather seats. I'd take this before latest Range Rover

Don't ruin it! They genuinely are fantastic cars. It's not going to set the world on fire, it's only a 2.5 ltr diesel. But it will happily keep up with traffic, in America you'll be flying past traffic. If you really want more power then the ex buick/rover V8 is so tunable the sky is the limit! I would never turn it into a two wheel drive. It was never intended to be one. It is however the best four wheel drive car on the planet! Drive it and try it, you may like it just the way it is....

out with the shit vm Italian engine and in with a v8. a poverty spec car witch sold well in Spain France and Italy up to 92 because of expensive Road tax. could you imagine roller with a tractor engine????????? why do this to a luxury car.

ive had a few classic rangys and a two door , ffs leave it alone thats a classic 4x4 , if you do anything lose that god awful engine out of it and thats about it.
