I only found out about the RAF having the A400 a few months ago but after some research about this aircraft type and just how good it is I managed to buttonhole some current RAF loadmasters who’ve said it’s a great piece of kit

Nice plane. As anyone can see the A400M is a modernized copy of the venerable Lockheed C-130, a nearly 70 year old American design. This plane looks like a jumbo C-130 with the most advanced electronics and avionics.

Airbus is better than Boeing. Not to mention that Airbus unites different nations in Europe for the development of this aircrafts.

That is a great aircraft.. if it was installed with jet engines that will be better

I hope Airbus, with the support of EU governments and their recently growing military budgets, will develop a zero carbon emissions version of the A-400M, perhaps using hydrogen fuel cells. The airlifter also has important humanitarian uses, since it can land a small airports during disaster relief, a growing applications area with the climate emergency. Perhaps this could even lead to a commercial aircraft with large capacity for passengers and cargo. I can imagine a multimodal transit system where there are air trunk lines that bypass major airports, a single ticket will get you door to door and there are drastically reduced terminal wait times.

Will never have the longevity and legacy like the C-130 Hercules.
