Diane Downs was convicted and sentenced to life in prison in 1984. This was her punishment for the shootings and attempted murders of her three children. One of them died as a result of her actions. At the time of the incident, Downs told authorities that there was an attempted carjack. Of course, this later proved to be a lie. In 1987, Downs escaped prison and was on the run for a short period of time before being recaptured.
Antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) is a mental health condition. People with ASPD show a lack of respect toward others. They don’t follow socially accepted norms or rules. Through their consequential antisocial behaviors, people with ASPD may break the law or cause physical or emotional harm to the people around them. They may disregard the consequences or refuse to take responsibility for their behaviors and actions. ASPD is one of many personality disorders. Personality disorders affect the way someone thinks and/or behaves.
The Behavior Panel comprises the world's top body language and behavior experts: Scott Rouse, Mark Bowden, Chase Hughes, and Greg Hartley. They analyze behavior and body language in videos of public interest. This non-partisan group aims to educate and entertain, focusing on nonverbal communication, deception detection, behavioral analysis, statement analysis, interrogation, and resistance to interrogation. Through careful examination of gestures, expressions, linguistics, and cultural context, they reveal truths and deceptions. The Behavior Panel is prominently featured on The Dr. Phil Show and has its own show on the US TV Network, Merit Street Media.

Consider how you might feel if you **had** stopped for a man waving you down. I can see how someone might make that mistake in certain circumstances but if I made that mistake I don’t think I could ever forgive myself. That’s what I don’t understand. She never lets on that she feels guilty and remorseful for making that mistake. Of course, if you’re put on the defensive and blamed for killing your child, and shooting your children, you might come off as defensive and angry rather than guilty and remorseful. You might even be in complete denial about your mistake and that would make you look even worse and more guilty. Yet, she says that she would never have made as many mistakes if she were the shooter. That’s such a strong contradiction. It would require so much cognitive dissonance I can’t reconcile it.

@@wingit7335I'd like to think there's someone there, but Diane has failed the first part of copying facial features that express emotion, she can smile, she can wrinkle her eyelids, but she lets her eyelids drop so her eyes are hooded. Maybe she practiced in the mirror and realized she couldn't get the emotion into her eyes and decided to hood them permanently hoping nobody will notice, or she's such a narcissist that she doesn't care how her eyes look. But I think it's a game to her and she's the predator and we are the prey and whether she's killing us ,like her daughter, or lying to us, it's the same to her and if there was no barrier between her and her victims we'd be as dead as her daughter. To quote Shakespeare: “Hell is empty and all the devils are here.” The lack of self awareness by these monsters still baffles me and is very difficult to grasp. Even though I know that parasites like this individual are evil, that they lack self awareness, true regret, sadness, accountability, humanity and moral compass, even knowing they’re just deplorable evil beings, it still is difficult to not only watch but to accept. So sad. The part when she smiles is something truly stomach churning and chillingly demented.

Gentlemen. I love and respect what you do. Regarding what this imbalanced woman said about having children, she's not unique in her sentiment. I'm in my 60s and from the tike I was in my 20s, reasons given by women I've known include wanting a baby to love them back unconditionally, and that babies make them feel that they matter, giving them a sense of purpose. That's that part of how babies make most women feel a certain way, give them a sense of belonging. This is especially strong among women who grew up in fractured, and dysfunctional families, where they were made to feel unseen, unwanted, or merely tolerated. Most women feel that babies complete them, make them feel whole. And yes, I have heard women (ex-SIL) say that babies are easy to make, and in her case, she makes beautiful babies. It is also well known that having children can elevate a man's amd woman's status in their job, propel him and her father in their respective careers. Having children is another commonality that many people.can relate to because it implies stability, something this crazy lady also said. So please, don't apply what she said as unique, or abnormal, because these are reasons I've heard why people want, and/or elect to have children. BTW, the idea of children should be seen not heard is still prevalent in many cultures including in the US. It has only been 35 years where a child's thoughts and emotional well being have been normalized. These days kids are often displayed, yes, like an accessory, and a status symbol exploited by their parents on social media.

Neurodivergent people often have low affect, explain their actions, and struggle with empathy. If you're guilty you're guilty but, those are very ND traits as well. I'd love to see you guys do some videos on neurodivergent or autistic people and talk about how their base behavior starkly deviates from typical behavior.

1st clip: When telling the story, she doesn't even try to fake emotion like narcissists do when they don't believe their own lies (she is a narcissist, as all psychopaths are narcissists, but not all narcissists are psychopaths), which tells us *a lot* about her. But one thing she does know, likely from experience, hence her story, is that her reasons for doing things are not socially accepted, which is partially why she told the story to begin with. She doesn't understand, but knows that she cannot tell people WHY she did what she did, she knows they wouldn't understand, and how she got away with things throughout her life was to make up stories that she thinks would make sense to others. IF she truly believed her story like the lower schools of narcissists would (via dissociation & confabulation), she wouldn't show as many obvious signs of lying. *What makes analyzing & understanding narcissists' lies & emotions extra difficult,* is that their facial expressions that represent emotions (not all facial expressions, and not micro-expressions) aren't always genuine (those that represent empathy & the like) even when they truly believe their own lies that their narcissism has convinced them of, to protect the inner self. Emotions that narcissists show are not from the inner self, they're either from acquired character traits they're trying to mimic, or it stems from intellectual empathy, care, concern, etc. So, the emotions that they show via body language can either be them mimicking character traits of others, OR, they could be due to believing their own lies and they're showing intellectual empathy, care, concern, etc. *What is responsible for their intellectual emotions & facial expressions, where they come from & why,* makes a big difference in the interrogation / interview. She's definitely a unique character, the emptiness & coldness stands out like the demureness of a whore at a christening.

Would love to see you take a look at Shanda Vander Ark from Norton Shores Michigan. She is/was a law clerk in the same county that she is on trial for torturing and killing her 15 son. She is claiming she has PTSD and has no memory of starving him and leaving him in ice baths for 9hrs! She has disrupted the court with a panic attack on day 1 and vomited while on the witness stand on day 2….day 3 tomorrow 🤷‍♀️ Day 3 - Court is delayed 2 hrs while her attorney tries to get her ready for court but a “medical emergency” is preventing her from testifying. She waves her right to be present at trial….

0:49 The pronoun shift in "flagging ME down" & "flagging US down" is a good example, but might mean nothing, it could be due to her being the driver, she was the one being flagged down as the one in control of the car. It's typical for people talking about being in the car with others, where we are the driver, to say things like "WE were on our way to the movies" and "I hit a rock in the road on the way to the movies." But it could go the other way, too. Also, she said that WE like to take the back roads, but that could go either way, also, and it applies more to everyone in the car than just the driver, so it was appropriate for her to say WE when referring to liking to go on the back roads.

Insightful and entertaining as always Behavior Panel! I just want to note that not everyone who "stares" or is weird with eye contact is a psychopath. Obviously some may be...This murderer is... But for example a person "staring" in a restaurant may be zoning out or bad at eye contact rules. (many autistic children and individuals struggle with these things.) When you talk to and actually meet someone, your instinctive gut feeling will usually let you know when you have to worry, like one would worry if they were to meet this "woman". Gives me the chills thinking about it. Thanks for your commentary.

Rule was to never engage in games w “clients,” which he knew. Began saying I looked just like the queen he’d placed then got onto anti-Chinese statements bc the psychiatrist was a brilliant man, himself. It doesn’t happen every day when someone gets pregnant and they don’t want to be so they just take care of it… That’s because it’s an inconvenience to their life, this one is just in reverse. She didn’t see them or something she didn’t want, she saw this, something that she wanted offer herself but either way, it’s an attitude that children are disposable, no matter how small.

2:01 I'm not saying that she's not a psychopath, but many of these things are also traits of liars, narcissists, and people with narcissistic traits. She is also a narcissist, all psychopaths are narcissists, but not all narcissists are psychopaths. Narcissists mimic (often not very well) character traits & emotions of others, and also show intellectual empathy, care, concern, fear, etc, so not showing any emotion could be due to cognitive overload, or lack of having a saved acquired character trait in their files.
