Inside A Historic Bluestone Manor Overlooking The Mighty Esk River in Northern Tasmania | House tour

Today I’m coming to you from the edge of the Esk River, just upstream from Cataract Gorge in Launceston, Tasmania.
Flax is a historic bluestone property, built in the late 1800's by one of the original engineers of the Duck Reach Power Station - one of the very first hydroelectric power stations in the world, and Tasmania's first.
The home is perched at the top of a bluff, making for a very dramatic site. It is private, there’s a lot of wildlife and despite feeling removed from the city, the downtown are of Launceston is only a 7-minute drive away.

@@bennybnb the property is just a great combination of backstory, location, materials and design aesthetic, quirky but not frivolous. The cinematography and colours, or perhaps just colour grading, only add to the vibe. It's definitely somewhere I'd like to spend a bit of time.

Thank you Rob. Great insights here and so glad you enjoyed it. Sadly it’s for sale so may not be an option when you travel to Tas, but there will be plenty of others!

Ben, as you say there is something special about staying at a place with so much history and a story. This one really helped shaped Tasmania. Flax has an appeal to just about everyone. Living history and likely to give you a 'grounding'. The house itself is a 'home from home' Many of the interior aspects are so interesting. . And with the dramatic landscapes and therefore lots to explore. A place to consider for a Spring or Autumn visit. There is a sense of deja vu.... Thanks Ben. Great editing and 'score'. Excellent. Thanks for bringing The Flax to the channel.
