@@mathquik1872 Agree. Being an insect I think helps the Weta survive being frozen: Its shell hold it together while the insides... Vertebrates would have to deal with different freeze-expand cells in bones, right next to varied freeze-expand cells in flesh and... None have. I don't know for sure. But it does seem it'd be a lot less difficult for an insect to do this. Some toads come close. So...a giant prehistoric frozen bug or frog, thaws... then, hungry, eats whatever it wants.

RestlessLee They have, it's called evolution. Notice the narrator didn't say how this amazing creature (or it's supposed evolutionary ancestors) developed the ability to change it's DNA to become what it currently is (an unexpected, specifically adapted insect). The narrator mentioned the development of special proteins that this creature already has the ability to produce, as the end result of the evolutionary struggle for survival. That doesn't explain the creatures existence. Where is the mechanism that produces an insect? Natural selection doesn't produce creatures, it eliminates those not fit to survive a particular environment. Evolution here, as everywhere it is postulated, is assumed... not observed. Life only comes from life, that is observed.

My first thought too. Protein that protects the cell from forming ice crystals, would be the big breaktrought that this technology needs. As said, it is possible to basically preserve a human by deep freezing him, but thawing a person out will kill him, staight at the cellular level.
@Eli-akad

Los Tard it’s not the thawing process that would kill a person, it’s the freezing process that does. While the ice crystals are forming they tear up the cells
