    @@mayuhnaykechup6959 Yes, they have fancy stuff that is *CRAZY* expensive, but some staples can even be cheaper than Walmart. For example, a 4.5kg/10lb box of perogies is only $10 here, where you might pay $15 elsewhere, and the 5 dozen pack of eggs is cheaper per egg than you can get on *sale* in other stores. @@lunaaa8225 I’d suggest actually searching out the term online and reading a few articles on the subject 🤷‍♀️ Unlike grades of beef (such as select, choice, and prime) which have a standard metric applied to them by a governing board, describing fish a “sushi-grade” is simply a marketing term, that is only as useful as the seller is trustworthy. While I understand the process behind preparing sushi, freezing a product would not change its grade. For example if you freeze a USDA “choice” grade steak it doesn’t become “prime” grade steak. So while some fish, such as tuna, do indeed have a grading system, none of those grades are called “sushi” (they’re just numbers). Additionally, any of those grades can be safely consumed in raw form, assuming they have undergone the appropriate processing recommended by the FDA. So, sushi grade is not a thing. Saying “fish deemed by the seller to be safe for raw consumption” would be the accurate terminology but I’m sure you can see why that would be a terrible marketing strategy.

  • @stpdtwnk

    @stpdtwnk

    Жыл бұрын

    @@Captain_porkchop90 best way to enjoy sashimi is to put a dab of wasabi on top and dip the bottom part in abit of soy. The textural difference is amazing especially with fresh or slightly better quality wasabi. It’s like having the wasabi pungency first followed by the fish and the salty umami soy sauce Vs just having the fish followed by the combined notes of just essentially a wasabi flavored soy sauce where you lose the fragrance of the wasabi itself. But tbh I guess in the case of cheaper wasabi where the” wasabi” is literally a homogeneous paste as akin to the drier or better grades tube ones, it doesn’t really matter as much anymore. But still try both ways and see if you can appreciate the layers of flavors as opposed to just a wasabi flavored soy mixture.
