Not just beginner, but in general. Was told to go big when I got in the hobby and started a WB 130.4 and hated keeping it up. Closed it up and did the WB 25g and its little work and pure enjoyment. I don't ever see myself doing a reef in a bigger tank again.

With the tech today, I think smaller/nano tanks are the way to go for beginners. If you can master it, you can handle a big tank.

100% the secret to this tank is the amount of water changes..no skimmer either? Deffo water changes.
As someone who worked retail in a saltwater lfs, I tried to never give the go big advice. I liked recommending 20 to 40 gallon tanks because even though there can be more swings, when something goes wrong it's not as much of an uphill battle to correct. It seems like beginners stay in the hobby longer if they get a couple easy wins at the beginning!

I feel the same way. I started my first saltwater tank 17 years ago and I was told bigger is easier, but that’s only half the story. Big aquariums cause as many problems as it solves IMO. First off the price of everything is bigger, and realistically it just gives you more room to build bad habits. When I set up my first Pico-Reef I realized that, it’s almost comically simple and cheap! I didn’t need supplements or any fancy gadgets because I just did a daily 1 Liter water change. The biggest challenge was choosing corals that wouldn’t outgrow the tank too quickly.
The most beautiful 20 gal reef tank I have ever seen. Congratulations.
I just set up my first reef, and I’m glad I watched this video. This was such an amazing thing to see! What a beautiful reef!
You need to make more content my dude. I don’t mind Vic either but the way you deliver information and opinion is great. Thanks for taking the time.

Excellent job in this video Josh thank you ! I started the adventure and jumped the gun..began with a 32 bio..4 days later bought a 92g Reefer (Manhattan Aquariums) not thinking I could get the look I just saw in this video. Once I can stabilize the reefer, I’m gonna tackle the nano. More content like this (types, growth, placement, feeding) you guys are great!
Such a great video. Thank you for this. I've been in freshwater and am getting started with a reef tank, converting my IM 30L. This is amazing inspiration. I'm not gonna go this deep yet so I'm not sure I'd say "beginner friendly", ha! But the inspiration of just taking care of things and putting in the thoughtfulness and effort is something beginners really benefit from, for me anyway. Thank you!
This tank is simply awesome! Wow! Rockwork is dope and coral selection and their placement is fantastic. Thanks for sharing this beauty! I wish I had a tank like this: beautiful and healthy.

What a gorgeous tank, I have my cube in my front room. I had to change the stock pump as I found it a tad noisy, but it is a great tank. In fact I love the WB so much I purchased one of their frag tanks. I have a very low fish stock, my filtration is simple for both tanks filter wool and bioballs on the cube and a roller mat and bioballs on the frag tank.
Excellent display of corals on this tank. It gives me hope & inspires me continue with my little 13.5 Fluval tank.

Makes me happy knowing that with my current 40g breeder set up running on a canister filter that without a skimmer amazing coral growth and coloration can be achieved without having to go to the extreme with equipment. Hopefully one day I'll have my 210g set up so I can expand my coral collection particularly my blue ridge coral.

Awesome tank. Out of curiosity What are the nitrates and phosphates on the tank?

For almost all of our display tanks, we like to keep the nitrates around 10-20 and phosphates below 0.1
Super nice, I have a 20gal Max Nano and removed my skimmer 3 weeks ago. World of difference, the tank with weekly water changes have made my Corals look much better. I've added about 1 1/2lbs of Biohome Ultimate Media and also turned whites completely off as well. Cycle up to 80% blue and the corals have responded and look great. This video made me smile knowing I'm on track and didn't need all the side equipment. I also had a canister refugium and took that off as the tank numbers were ZERO. Way to clean per-say. Again great video and I just subscribed

@WorldWideCorals I am a newb and just bought a 10g peninsula style tank to get my feet wet with. As far as live stock: I want to have 2 clown fish Can I do a wrasse or a goby or both in the 10g too? Want to fill it with corals like Leah too. Have plans to go slow with cycling for first two months after the ammonia is down I am going to add copepods with phytoplankton with clean up crew. After that add in the clowns then other two fish if possible.
I wonder if there are any tanks out there where people stock a single species of coral to mimic a section of the ocean floor.
Going to switch to your SPS template that has all blues for the 2nd half of the day. I have a T5 hybrid with 4 bulbs paired with 4 xr15 g5 pros. How long would you run the t5s for and whicj bulbs would you recommend to use?
@WorldWideCorals
Жыл бұрын
We don’t use much t5s, but since they’re are more of a supplement, just get one that would complement your tank. The time where the whites are on is when you can put the t5s on. So the rest is just pure blue and coral pop!!

Can someone throw me a ballpark estimate as to the total cost to replicate this tank? I'm talking equipment, fish, and coral. Everything. My guess would be $2500
I disagree… white light is extremely important for the corals. In fact I think that you get better growth under whites. Everyone should at least run the whites 4 hours a day.
@theurbanartist775
10 ай бұрын
But white light doesn’t penetrate in the ocean so those corals only have blue light to grow from 🤔
@Botzz28
10 ай бұрын
@@theurbanartist775 jus because it’s not true in the ocean doesn’t mean it’s bad for our aquariums. They have done studies on it. Especially specifically SPS. White light give the most growth.
needs to be noted that the stocking list is way too high for this tank. if you’re a beginner you’re going to run into tons of algae issues like this. seriously only put 2 clowns, a goby, and maybe another small fish.
@jakehiggs9354
Жыл бұрын
For a beginner it's too much for sure. The key to this tank is the type of corals selected and the water changes. Those two combined help to keep the algae away.

Totally unrealistic, but you have the shop. The average reef keeper can't do all of that. Water box makes fine aquariums. So much water changes don't allow for a true biological diversity. Sell sell sell! That's all that matters 🤣
