    Dang-ive had that happen down here in MD back in 2020. There were THOUSANDS blitzing for hours. They were all 16-19 inchers though and the only thing they were hitting on was small jerk bait. I know the adrenaline and also frustration of not being able to catch a bigger one. Had to leave to get back to work while they were still blitzing after 3 hours.

    Gotta use top water in the blitz and also a size larger then the bait to make it more enticing. Once, I couldn't catch sh!t in a blitz until I upped the size of the lure to jumbo.

    Hi I live close by to. It looks like Johnny has same kayak as me. I would suggest a sit on top kayak for salt water because you are dealing with waves etc...a sit inside kayak is mandatory paddling and also the chance you get water inside which is a real bummer. I have a 10.6 olde towne sportsman pdl which looks like his... which is a pedal kayak...very stable kayak *jonnies may be the big water or longer sportsman. Brooklyn kayaks makes them also

    I’m freshwater, they do the same thing. It’s hard to get a bite at times, as they are either on tiny bait or what I think: cursing on the surface (not feeding) just swimming with their mouths open. Any ideas on how to get them to eat when free swimming?

  • @Fish-RI

    Yeah that was very cool I've seen several of them but from what I understand is you can throw just about anything in there in the big striper boils so what was it was it a blue fish it didn't really look like a striper cuz all I could see was the bottom but this is what I know bucktail jigs cast Masters hair razors zoom flukes and rattle traps

  • @Peter-zg3em

    @Peter-zg3em

    2 жыл бұрын

    that's not entirely true, as you're seeing here. what ghe's throwing is not a typical striper rig. he should be on topwater though. pencil or a spook. spooks are usually easiest to work from, a kayak and will elicit strikes in a school of fish like that.

    @@Peter-zg3em what is not entirely true?

  • @Peter-zg3em

    @Peter-zg3em

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@sethjohnson6539 you can't throw "just about anything" into a school of stripers on the surface and expect to hook up. this video is evidence of that. if there's an abundance of live bait you will need to entice fish into eating something that isn't alive which takes proper selection and the ability to cast and work the plug effectively. as you can see in this video he's NOT hooking up in what is literally the school of a lifetime, a rare occurrence of highly concentrated bass and not something even a daily fisherman like myself will see every year or even period of years. i'd bet a lot of money you'd have better chance to hook up on a topwater rig than an epoxy jig. i'd throw a spook at them first and i bet you money i'd hook up. again, this dude is evidence of what i'm telling you as he is casting into a hellish boil of bass and not hooking up. source: me. i catch more striped bass in the merrimack river from shore than any man alive. you should close that mouth and learn something.

    Looked to me like those fish were not feeding, they were bunched right up tight as they could cos something was hunting them. Which would explain why you could drag your lure through the middle of them over and over and they weren't interested, if they were feeding they would have taken it. A feeding school is more spread out than that as they charge through the prey.
